What you learned:
How a character is designed and built directly affects how easy it is to animate.
- Traditional character animation can be thought of as drawing motion.
- Puppet animation can be thought of as the opposite – moving drawings.
- Design elements can be animated in two main ways:
- Deformation (changing shape)
- Transformation (changing position, rotation, or scale)
- Layering several discrete parts (each with their own motions) atop each other creates the illusion of a single drawing in motion.
- A Symbol’s appearance may be enhanced with Color Effects or Filters.
- Design elements like characters or environments may be built up by combining separate parts.
