I spent 22 years in submarines and also 37 years altogether in the US Navy. Best time in my life! I have a masters degree in engineering. I really think it’s helpful to have knowledge of engineering in the Navy I’m glad my mother pushed me towards that. Best decision I made!

The most important person on the boat is the one that closes the windows and shuts the hatch…😂

The real advance with US submarines are its sailors. US sailors are undoubtedly the best in the world. And this is admirable

To live/ work in a sub must take mind alertness of a higher level, and full credit given to all aboard who do.

To Duane Ronan,
We stopped using diesel/electric boats decades ago and to the person who spoke about one piece hull we never used them. The hulls of today can withstand pressures of 100, 000. Pounds per square inch.

Can you do a show of two crews turning over a boomer? One crew ending their 100+ day deployment, and turning it over to the new crew beginning their 100+ day deployment.

Our sailors are top notch and know their jobs are so important and no one gives them the credit they are to continuing to sail the seven seas

Just before I arrived at Newport News, the shipyard statue was donated to the Martine Museum because the new owner did not like the inscription: "We build good ships at a profit if we can, at a loss if we must, but always good ships". Not sure if that is exact words, but close. Newport News had been bought by Tenneco Corporation. Great four years there working projects across the yard.

Diesel electric subs are air DEPENDENT. They must surface frequently to run the air breathing engines to recharge the batteries.
