I love that you show in real time how you deal with a damaged skin barrier, allergic reactions and breakouts ❤

I discovered two ingredients I'm allergic too recently. The first one is chamomille. IT'S EVERYWHERE. I didn't know it was an allergy so I bought all the "sensitive skin" products... Which ALL contain chamomille! At first it was a mild rash but as I kept applying it my skin got worse and worse. The rashes would burn and my skin felt raw. It was in my shampoos, body wash, face products, hair care... Eventually I tried a cream made of 70-80% chamomille and I felt like my skin was about to peel off. I FINALLY made the connection. I also found out a lot of things are derived or similar to chamomille, like blue tansy or alpha-bisabolol! The second ingredient was harder to pinpoint because it's in very few products and quite rare on the western market. It's coptis japonica. My skin was constantly itching because it was in such a small amount. Terrible.

Ahhh I absolutely hate that with the rise of "clean beauty, " everything is full of plant extracts even if it doesn't contain essential oils or fragrance allergens. Those extracts contain the same ingredients that are in essential oils that are considered fragrance allergens. I have allergic reactions to absolutely everything. The first sunscreen, mineral or chemical, that I have EVER not had an allergic reaction to is the Purito Daily Soft Touch sunscreen. I think you said you helped formulate that, so thank you SO, so much!!

You handled that like an absolute pro. So many people freak out, and end up prolonging the irritation by scrubbing and further disrupting the skin barrier. I guarantee there are people who haven't watched this and will watch it, who will be much calmer if they run into an allergen they are sensitive to. Thank you!

An allergic reaction and an irritation response is NOT the same. An allergic reaction is a systemic response to an allergen. common skin type contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, or full blown anaphylaxis. If experiencing a true allergic reaction to the face, I would not recommend slathering more products. Of course you want to remove allergen, but you need to take an antihistamine and then go to your ER. If your face swells, you want to make sure your airway stays intact and doesn’t swell as well.

Again, irritation vs allergies. There’s a difference.

I have mcas and have allergic reactions to many things, so skin care that is minimal ingredient and soothing is really important. I would love to see a video about skincare for those who are super reactive!! Love your content!!

Ouch! As an RN though, for a reaction of this magnitude, I am not going to apply other cosmetic ingredients on top of this possibly making it worse or prolonging healing. I will go directly to over the counter hydrocortisone 1% or 0.5% cream. Fast, safe, effective. Usually by the next morning is mostly gone. I only have to use it max two days.

Ever since I discovered the hard way that I was allergic to something in the lanege lip butters (which makes me sad bc they smelled amazing and were super moisturizing) I've always started patch testing new products. Don't want this reaction all over my whole face 😅 I know patch testing isn't 100 percent, because something can react fine on your neck but your face hates it, but it's saved my face on more than one occasion.

Apply your sunscreen at least 2-3 times a day. This is what helped my skin. littlllextra rice berry sunscreen has been the best for me. It absorbs rapidly after application. No oily skin after applying. I have been using this for 4 months and it has given me good results. I will definitely recommend it if you want a lightweight and oil-free sunscreen.

Finally a video on this, I have severe grass pollen allergy as well as various food allergies and intolerances and no one ever told me how there’s cross allergic reaction, not only with foods, but also ingredients in skincare. What happens when we are left to our own devices to make decisions about products when the majority of us are not certified derms and estheticians. I also have diabetic skin which I learned recently breaks havoc on skin, hair and nails, plus being deficient in vitamin D, and the latter is if not the only, then the most important vitamin for not just your body, but your skin, which if deficient can actually lead to diabetes type 2. For the longest I thought I had Rosacea and fungal acne. Turns out diabetic skin has similar and overlapping symptoms yay! So I can hardly use anything in my skin, nor can I eat most things either😭😭😭

This happens to me too! All the seaweed, algae, basically any protist organism hates me. The dead sea mineral trend is something to be cautious of. And then the famous Aveeno calm + restore line has feverfew extract which irritates me even more 😂

I had an allergic reaction to a cream I got from Walmart and uhhh... my skin got super puffy, super red, and IT GAVE ME WRINKLES AROUND MY EYES! The wrinkle is the one that goes from the corner of your eye and kinda goes down and traces the undereye skin/bag area. Made me MAD! I still have them too! They aren't as noticeable now... luckily.

That is what happens to my face when I use Great Barrier Relief from Krave. I am allergic to Niacinamide- the reaction has only gotten worse over time. Which is unfortunate because it is in a lot of products now.

I used to get allergic reaction to EVERY skincare product until I started taking Milk Thistle as a supplement. Now I can use anything. I don’t know the exact science of it, but I guess the liver has something to do with the skin 🤷🏼‍♂️ Hope it helps you too 🙏🏼
