It is believed that Mathematics and Art are two different, two separate worlds. Indisputable facts, logic, rigor and consistency on one hand, emotion, freedom of expression, fluid interpretation and ambiguity on the other. But this separation is not so absolute, and there are bonds that interconnect these two worlds.

Dr. Michail Panagopoulos talk moves along these lines of intersection. Is it the Mathematics of Art or the Art of Mathematics? Dr. M. Panagopoulos is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University . He got a Diploma in Electrical and Computing Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. He holds a PhD on pattern recognition and image processing on archaeology and arts. His research is broadly concerned with artificial intelligence and pattern recognition analysis on cultural, visual and artistic applications.
