Let's talk briefly about reticulocyte count and reticulocyte index, as well as other high-yield pearls regarding the evaluation of anemia such as checking nutritional studies (vitamin B12, folate, zinc, copper, iron studies, homocysteine, MMA). How is reticulocyte index calculated, and how should it be interpreted? How does it suggest bone marrow hypoproliferation / nutritional deficiency? All that and some more in this video.

Love this video! Could you do a video on interpretation of CBC with diff please?

absolute retic count would increase in thalassemias so one wouldn't have it in the differential while working up low absolute retic count.

Great explanation. ❤

How do you make things so simple and easy to remember? I keep making things more complicated when I study/read and end up not remembering much…lol thank you!

Zinc deficiency caused decreased iron absorption via guts.

Too much Zinc caused decreased absorption of Copper, which is a way of treating Wilson disease.

Too much zinc supplement causing low copper in healthy individuals could caused macrocytic anemia.

I’m really confused. I just received my test results and I have an absolute count of 120720. That’s a bit higher than 100. I have been told that the normal maximum count is 90000. What gives?
