Kia EV9 Review - Is this 7-seater EV family SUV what Land Rover should be making? The £65,000 349-mile range EV9 is Kia's flagship car comes with either 6 or 7 seats. The boot is huge, the cabin is capacious, it will crack 0-60 in 5 secs and it looks like it's been styled on Bobba Fett's head gear. But it is over 5-metres long.
Does the world need more huge cars? Jonny Smith tries to review every aspect of this award winning electric family wagon.

Lovely video, to quote my better half “he makes it interesting for people who aren't car people”

As for me, it feels like they’ve taken note of everything that makes our current D3 and old GL so practical, learned from it and built something that people with kids/dogs/hobbies need rather than an oversized coupe.

I give you massive kudos for talking about efficiency and putting it up on the screen. This is exactly what EV buyers need to know. Talking about or just talking about range is a misnomer in many respects.

Who else winced hearing and seeing the jet wash nozzle

12:00 Finally, a car with some decent space for your olive oil infused butter.

I'm relieved to discover I'm not the only person who shouts at the wind. I hope you do it when nobody is listening too.

What i particularly loved was the soaped up view, really highlighted the design by de-focusing in paint and trim and just highlighting design lines… Kudos for originality!!!!

Jesus christ Johnny, I hate crossovers, but respect the paint by not using a nozzle designed for brick and concrete.

It looks great and I have a feeling this'll be bought by families who actually need this size of car, and not just getting one as a status symbol. (Cough, Range Rover, cough).

I know you didn't do this, Johnny, but the edit made it look like you did!
You passed a horse and rider, perfectly.
Then immediately pulled over and did your 0-62.
Seemingly, spitting stones and rocks in their faces as you gave them a 1 finger salute.
Bless...

For anyone that thinks "ohh it's too big for our family" get the new Nero instead. It's a smaller version of the 9 with a few less frills. Better boot shape than the EV6 so you can fit more stuff in the back, and more space inside than it's sister car the Kona. Saw my first EV9 in the flesh the other day. Stunning car 😍😍

11:38 my wife always points out that a car with a big space in or under the console is perfect for a handbag, so it's not always in a potentially dirty passenger footwell. She also points out all male car reviewers miss that feature 😂

Dude, your rants on the weather and wind are hilarious. I loved it! Hope you guys get some good weather there.

Wow. You have to admire the honesty and the fact that Jonny holds a mirror up to all of us in terms of what is we really want from a car? Me, I will never buy the EV9, my days of lugging kids and their friends from x to y have long gone. However, I love cars and value the insights we get when someone like Jonny does a review. Me, sans children and no grandchildren anywhere in sight, I'm holding out for an R5 electric for a much more appropriate level of self indulgence. Hint hint Jonny. Love your channel and your work ethic, thanks.

Jonny your car reviews are the best on YouTube, clear easy to watch you keep it simple and entertaining for the viewers, and your barn finds are brilliant, keep it up mate, always a great watch.

I have a theory about these. I don’t think Kia really cares how many of these it sells. Sure it will be chuffed if it does sell a few. But I think the real purpose of this is as a statement of intent from Kia. It’s about putting an EV stake in the ground and saying, this is what we do. I think that’s quite bold and shows real confidence.

The fold flat seats are a nice trick. Everyone here in the states wants a big honking Yukon, but if you actually have to haul anything in the back, the seats dont actually fold flat so its a pain in the butt to actually use it for practical stuff.

I am now an EV driver and I get some of the nonsense about 'they're not actually green' from people. I'm not driving it to be green as such, it just makes massive amounts of sense. I also like to point out that 140+ years of car manufacture, exhaust emission and 'big oil' have been super green so far, yes?

As far as I can tell, it's roughly the same weight as a gas-powered Range Rover. I think that's important to point out as you keep mentioning how heavy the ev9 is.

Haha fella that fitment for the power wash is the ground cleaner... Durable paint indeed! All the best, love you're content!

Great Review Johnny .... I actually have owned one of these for almost 2 months now and covered 2500 miles and its excellent. I have the 6 seat GT S line version in the same colour you tested and it looks and drives really well. The annoying nagging safety alarms have been short cutted to a button on the steering wheel now and I can switch off what I want in about 20 seconds on start up so its less of a faff. I had a BMW iX before this and I never thought I would say that a KIA was a Rival to my BMW ... but it blows it away in all respects other than the badge snobbery (which i do have a bit of) ....cant recommend it enough.
