This is embarrassing. We are worse than a third world country when it comes to our training services. It's interesting that Europe and Asia have had a real high speed rail service that's dedicated for more than 30 years and we have this garbage. The amazing thing is the Eastern corridor of Amtrak is the best version. It gets so much worse as you go west where on time trains average 60 70%. Of course they will waste the infrastructure bill that they get from the government on BS.

Happened to me and a bunch of fam in July 22. Track support got washed out from a nasty storm. So, we ended up terminating in Moab, UT for nearly a full day. A fun birthday trip turned miserable. 😪. The crew made little to no announcements which further compounded the frustration. The restrooms started to foul the cars. Would I do Amtrak again? Hell yeah!

And this is exactly why Amtrak needs its own right of way. Relying on freight railways is a disaster for the passenger rail network.

Screw the NIMBYs, build more railways.

I have been seeing some really good video from people riding Amtrak on YouTube, that I was actually looking forward to using one. Then this happens.

Guess I got to go back to Japan again to ride trains that are reliable.

I'm laughing right now at every single complainer in this comments section, like, what kind of ingrates do y'all think you are? The people on this train were catered-to by Amtrak employees. There are people who were left pretty much for dead in the airport departure terminals, I'm sure, who would have killed to just rip up their airline tickets and buy Amtrak tickets instead. And you have the nerve to complain that AMTRAK is the bad service? Who, aside from Greyhound Buses, do you think was running the show during the recent meltdowns with Southwest Airlines and the FAA computer system? That's right -- Amtrak was still running throughout ALL of that, and you're giving them flak because they, apparently, suck without much (keyword: MUCH) in the way of an argument against them.

In the longest future, all train types and train tracks will replace friction-free Maglev trains similar to China and Japan. Too much delays, too much waiting let freight trains go through, and too much train derailment and accidents.
