Ed Kirkeby used to manage Fats Waller, while Fred Van Eps fathered jazz guitar legend George.
14:55 This "new kind of love" was unabashedly physical, evidently.
Exquisitely *feline* (4, 6) and *foxy* (7, 5) selection. _Jacques Renard = Jack Fox_

The fact that this set represents some of the best of what folks were listening to in 1930 certainly says good things about their taste. Just running through this set for the second time as a part of my Mem’l Day good music marathon, I’ve come to the conclusion that of all the good stuff here, track 1 tops this Hit Parade. Good year, great set; keep ‘em coming, Bob.

So many future standards debuted in '30, despite the dawn of the Great Depression: among these, I love these treatments of "Sunny Side, " "Little White Lies, " "Three Little Words" and "Puttin' On the Ritz" My favorite for sure, though, is Ethel's "New Kind of Love, " with an all-star band including T. Dorsey, Goodman, Adrian Rollini and Mannie Klein; one of my favorite tunes and one of the best of many excellent versions.

My favourite on this one: The last one, Three Little Words, I think Renards version of this is the best I have heared. I also like Picadilly Players Thank you for all your wonderful music, Bob

Kansas City Kitty truly "got around". I like the Rudy Vallee version, also. Many thanks.

15:58 Recorded in 1932, Gene Kardos’s _Tiger Rag_ (released under his pianist Joel Shaw's name) is the odd one out here. Its hectic proto-swing style gets terrific drive from precision double-tongue phrasing, and Bernie Green’s arrangement unfolds plentiful ideas thru _five_ different keys. Finding no audience for his jazz excursions - which few bands could even play - Green took up writing commercial music for radio.

I find it interesting how Ethel pronounces "r", I think that Belle Baker pronounces it similar, kinda charming.
