Rip shares how much fiber you need in your diet and the easiest way to get it - whole, plant-based foods!

Fiber plays a key role for digestion, weight loss, and cancer prevention, and can even increase lifespan! But don’t be fooled—many packaged food companies are trying to boost sales by adding extra fiber to their gummy candy or yogurt, but the best source of fiber is plants themselves! Yes, natural fiber is found only in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. So make sure you’re filling your plate with whole, plant-based foods.

PLANTSTRONG was created and implemented by New York Times bestselling author Rip Esselstyn. He answers your questions about the importance of fiber and how you can easily get what you need daily.

I’m with Rip on this. The levelling UP on cleanliness on this diet is spectacular. 100% adherence does NOT chain me down - it sets me FREE 😇

I love this family! Me and my husband loves this cereal. My favorite is the banana and husband loves the blueberry.

I was on a plant/based diet for the past ten years that was centered around bananas, fruit and beans and kind of shifted to green wraps and fruit. I was “going” once per day on average, maybe a little less.

I switched to starches for my staple in October and have been eating basically perfectly for the past six months. Now 75-90% of my calories come from potatoes and about 15% of my calories come from steamed greens and vegetables. I was steaming vegetables for the past ten years. I was using flat-out wraps.
Now that I’m on 85% cals from potatoes, 15% steamed and raw greens and not eating ANYTHING that’s not a WHOLE food (except for spices and garlic granules), I’m “going” 3-4x per day.

My fiber is around 130g daily. Gotta say, it’s a fabulous life 👊🏼

What UP McDougall!?!? 🙇🏻‍♂️

Anybody else talking so much about pooping, wiping, his fast they poop, etc. I would ask, “Does your Mom know what you talk about?” Not with Rip.
I’m pretty sure his mom would second the motion and agree out loud. (Bless her heart.)
They are a PlantStrong family for sure. 👍👏👏👏

30 different foods a week sounds like a lot, but that's basically just 4 or 5 DIFFERENT foods a day. So even if you eat a LOT of leftovers (which I do), it's pretty rare I don't eat at least 10 different foods each day (foods also includes things likes spices and herbs), getting 30 in a week is really easy! Heck, my oatmeal by itself has about a dozen!!! (rolled oats, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, black pepper, spinach, blueberries, banana, chia seeds, flax seeds, hemp seeds, soy milk).
