Never until recently could I have imagined that flat Earth would or could have become a controversy in the 21st century. When I first encountered the phenomenon, I thought it was an Internet based practical joke. The ones that most astound me are those that think spherical Earth was an idea originated by NASA, oblivious of the fact that ships navagators have been finding their way around the planet for centuries, understanding that the Earth is spherical.
