Chinese Communist Party unveils top leadership

The Chinese Communist Party unveiled its new Politburo Standing Committee members on Sunday (Oct 23), with Xi Jinping staying on as general secretary for another five years. The appointment comes after a week-long congress of 2,300 party delegates, during which they approved a reshuffle and endorsed Xi's "core position" in the leadership. CNA's Olivia Siong reports from Beijing.

Xi is far more powerful than Mao. Mao never had the technology or bureaucracy to centralize power as much as Xi can. Also, China is more far more rich and powerful than in Mao's time. CCP is by no means perfect but what it achieved in such a short period of time for 1.4 billion Chinese deserves respect. You don't have to look far for comparison, it's neighbouring country India is struggling for quality growth under democracy since it's independence due to poor governance. In India, we are still miles away from progress what China did in last few decades.
