I'm rounding this to 65 years old, but it might well be 66. Lovely to think that this stuff still survives... well, until I make it and try it and regret it.
Anyway! Imitation Strawberry Instant Pudding from Jell-o. It's like Angel Delight only more American! And it's from 1955ish. You get the idea.

Ashens 8 years ago: “I’m not gonna try these jelly babies, they’re 17 years old for Christ’s sake!”
Ashens now:

"It smells of... *wheezing laughter* "

Oh, that's always a good sign.

The lack of vomiting ashens intro leads me to believe 65 year old instant pudding is a delicacy

I’d like to add the reason they put on imitation strawberries because at the time that was actually marketable, it was considered cool that it wasn’t made with real food, juicy fruit used to do the same thing.

It is interesting how package design has evolved. Everything started out so simple.

This man would be the one to survive off of abandoned supermarkets in a post apocalyptic world

The charm behind ashens videos is that they could be made 15 years ago or 15 minutes ago

The fact that the powder was still dry was a miracle in and of itself. If you don't get starch wet, it's basically shelf stable forever. I'm not surprised that it kept.

Plot twist: It actually is horribly expired but Ashens has built up an immune system and taste buds so resistant to expired food over the years, that it just tastes normal to him.

Now THIS is the classic Ashens content the public demands!

I like how honest marketing industry back then "Imitation Strawberry", now would be "100% Strawberry flavour!"

That box looks straight out of Fallout and not just because of the 50s aesthetic.

my grandmother was a bit of a hoarder who developed alzheimers later in life and as a result I distinctly remember her making me jello pudding from this box design. tasted fine, I never got any horrible diseases from it. for reference I'm in my 20s so it would have been about 50 years old at the time.

So...I have instant red beans and rice from 1987 that I need to send to Ashens. He's the only person that I feel would truly appreciate it at this point in it's existence.

The numbers stamped on it are the way supermarkets used to price their items for "multiple pricing". If I recall correctly, 3/32 would be short for 3 packages for 32 cents. Probably a little more than 12 cents per package if purchased in smaller quantities.

The Waxed Bag sounds like a really strange small town pub

Good way to start the evening, watching a British man eat spoiled hoof powder with strawberry flavoring using an old couch as a table

“U.S certified color” means that the government has legally allowed this company to use this color. the reason for this stems back to the late 40s legal battle between american dairy companies and the opposing margarine companies. this legal battle resulted the government restricting artificial food colors
