Joy! A Leo speaks video. That was both instructive and a thorough tease!

Really nice that Intel offers these tours to press. It gives us viewers an insight to how complex the whole operation is. No wonder only Intel, TSMC and Samsung exist as leading edge foundries. Also how huge and global Intel is. I am really looking forward to meteor lake, but love seeing the how its made.

Packaging those chips must be insanely precise given the side of the connections.

Really cool video, thank you. I could easily just pause if need more time to read or look at pictures, but some of the slides were so quick I found my self pausing several times in this video. Even just a one or a couple of extra seconds per slide or picture would have made a difference. But thats just me, either way, great video, thanks again!!

Intel gluing dice together after publicly throwing shit at AMD for doing it a few years ago is my favourite irony in recent silicon development techniques.

Penang has an Assembly and Test factory for Intel. "Test" is a highly sophisticated operation, not as photogenic as the "Assembly" operation. "Test" doesn't merely verify that silicon dies and the final package are functional. Test classifies dies by speed, power, and many other attributes, not just pass/fail. Then, dies are "matched" in packages according to their attributes. There are also calibration, repair by fusing, etc. operations that occur in Test. That requires a lot of sophisticated robotic operations. It looks like Intel was just showing the obvious photogenic Assembly operation.

They have held good gaming performance now for some time. Will be keen to see how the upcoming generation handle in regards to power v performance.

Cant imagine how they manage to align those tiles on a package and glue it together without moving.
