Is there a way to do this all in the Unity editor UI rather than inputting the code and variables in c# each time? With a large scale AR project I could imagine having this hybrid approach could create friction for workflow if repeated hundreds or thousands of times..

Also I reflect some of the sentiments here, in unity this is fantastic and straightforward. The geospatial suite isn't available for Unreal, everything in unreal should be possible given Unreal's tech, but google don't seem to have made it available for unreal. Ive tried doing equivalent things with Unreal and it should be possible since the capacity is there for unreal, however the implementation from google isn't there as it is on unity so its 10x more difficult. Could the geospatial creator suite also be added to Unreal engine? 
The days of unity running on mobile ar and vr better than unreal are over.. I actually get better performance and visuals on unreal compared with unity on my android and XR devices.
