WOW!!! We had these APDS (Sabot) (but never used them in training) because they exceeded the limits of just about all the impact areas of our ranges at Ft knox and Grafenwohr in Germany our standard rounds of the day were HEAT (TP-T) for training and service HEAT for the real thing - that thankfully never happened...(HHC 4/35 armor, 1st AD - Illesheim, Germany Nov '71 - Jul '74) Irpn Horsemen!!!

A quite different design if we compare this round with the current Armor Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding Sabot or APFSDS in short parliance.

The channel would be so much cooler if it listed the cost of the equipment when it came out.
It still is a great channel though.

That is a healthy amount of accelerant, might penetrate some things so be careful when aiming…🫡🤷‍♂️

Really cool to see how they designed the powder to burn, just wondering what the sabot is made from, possibly aluminum? Electronic primer?
Looks like a steel body with a steel primer screwed in to a brass electronic primer.

...Real nice and clarifying footage !! 👍🏻.
I don't know of any other channel showing the all the ordnances' "guts" like this one. Two important questions, though :
1_ the main penetrating depleted uranium rod is in the core of the tip, right ? So, the "flying tip" does not have a stabilizer tail ? How does It hit the target straight ?
2_ What is that sort of "pipe" going from the bottom fuze up to head of the cartrige ? It seems to be a device to extend the primer to the entire cartrige load at once.... Is that correct ?
