Odds are, if you are reading this, you enjoy the stories that books create, but there are years and years worth of entertaining books to read. How do you choose what to read? In this video, I reflect on what I have read over the past year, 2024. I set goals for the year 2025 and talk about how I choose what to read with so much great content out there.

I've recently discovered a newfound love for reading books and making book-related content and sharing my travel experiences through my vlogs. If you resonate with my style, be sure to explore the rest the of content on my channel.

FOMO is so real, regardless of what your hobby is. I learned I can only do what I can and enjoy the time I have. Great video Peter!

I like this mindset! I often find myself "racing" against the non existent reading goal clock. Reading slower and enjoy reading sounds like a plan.

Finally someone in this community who’s focusing on quality instead of quantity…..lately I’ve noticed that all these booktubers are addicted to boast about the number of books they’ve read

Getting back into reading was the best decision I’ve ever made

I have never been a big fan of "reading challenges" or set goal for how many books I need to finish in a year. Reading is the most relaxing and calm moment for me. I just want to read because I love reading, not a number game. I'm happy to see content creator is also having this mindset !! :) Totally agree with reading slower approach 🥳

Something I preach on my channel all the time. You won’t be able to read all the books in the world. So enjoy the journey not the destination. You can only read a book for the first time once.

I’m excited about the book club.
It’s nice to see that I am not the only one feeling the pressure to finish a book even if I’m not enjoying it.

I don’t really set any goals for myself, when it comes too reading books. But this year I have decided to not buy any books that don’t really need. I have got myself in situations where I have bought loads of books, then end up getting rid of them because there is no space in my room. I now go through all my books and get rid of the books that I know I will never read again. The books that I wouldn’t ever get rid off is books by F.Scott Fitzgerald, Sylvia Plath.

If I could go back in time, I would buy one book read it before buying another book.

A perfect reminder for the new year! I always put pressure on myself to read more than I did the year before, so I will definitely be taking some time this year to reflect on why I read what I do. (Also, I fully support a book club happening this year!)

Bookclub will be very nice! I’m from Spain and I feel here are not too many healthy bookclubs. With this video you really give me a different perspective about book goals I’ve never thought about, love your content!!

I don’t tell this as an example to follow, but more of how two generations ago people approached content.

My Grandpa, was an holocaust survivor, who was reading mainly one book in his late life, it was Anna Karenina by Tolstoy.

For years he was reading it over and over again, without much interest in other books.
Why he did it? I don’t know. I was a child back then.
But multi layerd stories usually requires some unique devotion during a part of your life.
In order to really dig in to a complex story, you need to give up on some books for this round of life, but you gain the experience of revealing the many beautiful layers of a single complex story.

Totally agree with so many points here! I also think 300-400 pages is the sweet spot for a book—it just feels like the perfect experience. And yeah, I’m all about picking books that catch my eye in a bookshop or library rather than following the internet and what the masses are reading online. Social media can be so overwhelming sometimes, and let’s be honest, half the time people just buy books because of the hype. Then they sit on the TBR pile, which already has 20+ books waiting! 😅
When it comes to those massive series with 5+ books, each a thousand pages long, I think it's best to take your time. Reading should be enjoyable—whether you're looking for entertainment, learning something new, or just changing your mood—not just about hitting a target. Last year, I read 24 books, and I'm really happy with that.

I've been following u for a while, and this video is FOR ME! I swear, I was struggling with that for the whole past year, and I decided to take it slow. I read 28 books while working and being in college, and I think that was a lot. I will be glad if I finish 3 books in 2025 but truly enjoy them... so basically, thanks for reminding us that it's okay to slow down :)
