Thanks Joy; You are correct, when I try to play slower melodies, I tend to tense up over time and go out of position more easily, especially when I'm reading it. With memorized melodies, I can concentrate a bit better on my right and left due to the reduced tax on the brain lol xxoo Gary

May I ask you a question: How do you improve your sound on scales (3 octave) especially the high notes

I have rheumatoid arthritis and in trying to play with 1 and 2 close I just couldn't do it without moving one before playing the other. The shape of my joint at end of my fingers doesn't bend properly. I tried instead just sliding which one finger the very short distance depending on the following notes. After practicing
Old Joe Clark and having the intonation continually off by just a hair, something I can't take, it's like fingernails on a chalkboard. I decided to pretend I was shifting. Am I describing it in any way that makes sense? It works great for my poor old fingers. However, I don't know if this is going to cause any problems?

I've started marking my music to show where I will need to leave a finger or fingers so I don't have to make unnecessary movements. I'm thinking of starting to mark the music so when there is a rest or different note, I'm signaled to move the next note in position so it's ready to play. Again please tell me if this is something that will cause me future problems.
