Do you add both of the hots together after you check the amp draw with your amp clamp?

Hey bubba don't get people confused especially overnight electricians. You are correct to some degree, but there are only two types of phases, single phase and three phase. Most houses, unless you a multi millionaire are single phase, no such thing as two phase. Where most industrial or building on a much larger scale, hospitals, industrial, will use three phase. Your video is some what correct. But being a single phase the electricity alternates in cycles, hence AC alternating current.

Can you check the amperage when you clamp on the cable that is plugged in to a household electrical receptacle? Thanks.

I had my a/c running with a few lights on and had 37amp on 1 phase O/L on the other phase. Had breakers on, on both phases.

Ok Odd question. Im looking for a simple way to explain this to my apprentices. If youre drawing 22A on 2 and 27A on one then whats your (1) MAX draw and (2) whats you draw for 220V?

With 20amp on one phase and 20amp on other phase is the total 40 amps then?

Based off the amperage of each leg you measured 1 120v leg 22 amps 2nd 120v leg 27.5 amps your house was drawing 5, 940 watts
