I'm an old school guy who grew up on rock, punk, metal etc. and the Iranians standing up to their government is the most punk thing I've seen in the last 30 years. Had the pleasure of working with a few of them over the years and they truly are a beautiful people with an amazing history and culture.

Honestly after ten years of people trying to warn about this, it's probably too late to stop it now. It is in every institution and corporation. There will soon be "sensitivity readers" for scientific journals (I'm sure there already are at some) and education as a whole is going to severely degrade as gifted/honours classes are stopped and grading/tests are replaced by subjective criteria (a big component being race, but without explicitly saying race)

The problem with a lot of this that I’m noticing more and more, is that people want to use and abuse words and really big ideas that they don’t understand because they want to weaponise the power of those big words and ideas. Not because they want information to be free. They don’t. They just want THEIR ideas to be free.

I'm 44 and im not sure if my age has anything to do with it but when I hear the term "woke", to me it implies ignorance or an over the top believe in something that really isn't that important, an extremism.
I don't know what it's going to take to bring us together anymore. it sure isn't politics, not even a joint or music can seem to do it these days. our attention span in general seemss shorter and most of the information we take in, which is an insane amount, is redundant and I think we're seeing a reflection of exactly that.
like taking a shit in the floor and being proud of it.

There's an excellent book "Cynical Theories" by Helen Pluckrose and James Lindsey that totally obliterates woke postmodernism. It's an eye opener as to how exactly wokism is a threat to our culture and institutions, and I say this as mostly independent but slightly left leaning with many topics.

The mantra ‘live and let live’ as put by Tim seems a solid test on the moral equivalence (or hypocrisy) of a position. Can I propose a good self-check to employ - does my heart truly align with my intention? Put another way; you cannot love with an angry heart. The anger will reign.

Tim Urban should look into Christian Fundamentalism and it's influence eg on school boards in Texas.
