Now that the deal's been sealed and officially announced, Lucasfilm boss and Star Wars: Episode VII producer Kathleen Kennedy has gone on record about how she won over a reluctant J.J. Abrams to direct the next Star Wars movie.

J.J is a fan of Star Wars, but the project timing and the task is a big challenge. He was/is working on Star Trek now so he didnt wanted to start working on Star Wars. remember that a movie is not made in a month, so there may be a conflict, he cant do two huge movies at the same time.

first of all, ea owns the licensing rights to mass effect. and movie producers don't ask for permission, they buy rights to make a movie of the ip. and who they pick to direct and write the script is left to the discretion of the movie studio.

i hope they dont push or hurry on the movie, taking time would do more good. i wouldn't mind waiting for ep7 and extra 2 years

They most likely are, look into it a lil bit. Star Trek Into Darkness hasn't even come out in theaters yet, and they haven't even confirmed a cast. No worries, J.J's even said he wants to take his time and not bone it up. :D I'm so happy, this is what the fans deserve after the prequels.

thats assuming that any movie production company would hire a writer from bioware to write the script. can you tell me an instance where the movie producers hired the writers of the original game??
