THIS CHANNEL:
_________________________________________________________
The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...

This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.

Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

We buried our mom in a beautiful light blue gown we found that she bought from Mountgomery Ward catalog that she has put away and never got to wear..she looked beautiful in it.

Speaking of catalogs, my stepfather worked for Sears and told me that Sears purposely made their catalog smaller in size than Montgomery Wards. I ask why and he told me that when people stacked books on a coffee table back then they naturally put the smaller book on top and that's the one you grab first. Shrewd!

Not everyone, like you Ron, respect who has passed before us.
Thanks Ron for coming along with you, and sharing the experience !👍🏻

In the late 80s / early 90s, Montgomery Ward was one of the big stores my mom & grandma would take me to to do school clothes shopping every year. I still remember me and grandma going into our local San Diego area store for the last time right before it went out of business and my grandma being pretty depressed about it, saying it was "the end of an era".

The old Montgomery Ward catalogues were so beautiful and the prices have been exclaimed over for decades in our family. Thank you sir for the visit and tour, beautiful place for interesting people, I am certain that the stories are as rich as the residents were.

Have nothing but admiration for people who start from nothing, never give up, and succeed. This was my philosophy and it gives one a real sense of achievement. Great story Ron. 😊👍

I always looked forward to getting our catalogs from Montgomery Wards, Sears Roebuck, and JC Penny’s… as a kid the Christmas catalog was so full of exciting things.. I miss them..the internet just isn’t the same.. the small town I was raised in, in Oregon had several Sears Roebuck houses that were ordered from their catalogs in the early 1900’s..

I grew up in Livingston Montana and there was a Montgomery Ward there. I went in there as a newly wed and bought husband a recliner chair. That was in 1978. I now live 40 miles from there. It was below zero last night and 0 today. And we finally got some snow!

I always giggled at the story about Sears and Wards ghosts meeting and dueling it out at night in the crypts👉🏻👈🏻

Wow, such incredible mausoleums. The beauty of stained glass, marble and brass work is amazing! It would be a feeling of comfort while alive to know you will be laid to rest in such a beautiful, protected spot.

I have purchased many things from Montgomery Ward and my mother did, too. She loved their merchandise. Interesting video and that is a beautiful mausoleum! So quiet and serene but also kinda sad that few people ever bother to go visit and pay their respects to the folks just a generation or two back.

Got my first dryer from Wards in 1978 for a wedding gift. Loved our Wards and Sears stores. Now, they are torn down! ☹️

Sadly, in the end, we are words on a stone that no one wants to visit.... I'll never forget hearing that. Make the effort people...They lived, you live... Don't leave their memory as alone, a memory. Go to the finality. Go to the end of all things. Shake it's hand, tell your tales in only secratives the dead can withstand through the tears we convey. And in the expunge of our living tales, we grasp better the past, that only we have lived, and willingly they had accompanied. There is no after, had there never been a witness to mourn in future. "WE" is a power felt in these such places alone. God bless you all.
