Quick clarification:
However, this is the first using such a complex system, including a new balloon technology, Hubble like optics and stabilization and the ability to create exceptional imagery from near space
So I'm definitely excited to see how this progresses in the next few years

Missed an opportunity to call it 'The Hubble Bubble'

Edit: Thanks everyone. Glad I could be of service.

You hit the nail on the head when you said you were moving from the "I want to believe" camp to the "I'm tired of looking" camp. Personally I was never solidly in one or the other, but all the hype surrounding UAVs, trying to bend reality to justify what we want to see, instead of looking for the simplest solution has pretty much jaded me on the whole idea of seeking extraterrestrial intelligence. Not that I think it doesn't exist, but it is nowhere near us, or we are nowhere near being able to detect it.

Anton’s “huh” is my favorite response. I’ve started doing this when people disagree with me. It’s very disarming. Anton us the best, ever.

How much can a balloon’s altitude combat light pollution? Is urban light pollution manageable for stellar observation 40km above a bright city like Tokyo?

Anton, many thanks for sharing this. Fabulous news in a world beset by bad news. What mankind can do for good as this video shows is just so uplifting.

Going from, "I want to believe, " to, "I'm tired of looking of looking for it, there really doesn't seem to be anything out there, " can apply to more than just UFOs. 💔

Anton: "Is it a bird? Is it a plane?"
United States Air Force: "It's a target!"

Anton, the use of telescopes suspended from high altitude balloons has been going on for a fairly long time. The one I know of has done observations of the sun, there was one attempt at a launch out of New Mexico to observe a comet? I think, but it's possible it was a different type of celestial body. It was a rushed project and ended in failure. They fly them around Antarctica because the winds aloft are much more predictable there than other areas. The balloon technology seems to be a nice leap forward I look forward to your future reports on this. Thank you for all your great videos.

China's watching closely "Oh now they want balloons!"

There have been some good videos out lately that contradict your Fermi based vids. Would be interesting to get a “dialog” between the two.

*Paradox* came up with the best name for balloon ....

*"Hubble Bubble!!"*

Also, *"Mini Hubble/Mini Bubble"* would be OK, but *"Hubble Bubble"* definitely best name!!

You think we'll ever get video footage showing the entire hemisphere of the Earth while its rotating around its axis. What a magnificent sight it would be!

From "I want to believe " to " I'm tired of looking for them" thanks Fermi

I agree. Used to be in the "i want to believe" crowd. Now the more "evidence" i see, the less i believe

You pointed out the disadvantage of balloons and spinning bowls of mercury can only look straight up so they will be addons to other telescopes. And you just made me think about a classic Monty Python episode, 'The Golden Age of Ballooning.' Maybe this will be the golden age of ballooning.
