And very clearly, Sheldon is right. You can say anything you want about Sheldon, but he is spot-on here! Leonard and Penny, for the majority of the time, are mean to each other & miserable together, even before the wedding, and the irony is that after, when they are already married, it's an even bigger disaster. They are the most toxic couple of the Big Bang Theory, and the majority of the fandom also agrees. Yes, Sheldon is obsessive and not as emotionally available as other guys, and can be seen as toxic personality, but the difference is, that Amy knows this perfectly well for years before the wedding with Sheldon, and she still accepts him just as he is, all of his quirks and obsessions, and loves him despite of all that, and that is exactly how real love looks like! As Sheldon says, he and Amy share similar passions for science & like to spend time together, so they are never bored with each other, and the relationship agreement actually prevents many fights and miserable situations between them. So yes, maybe they are not the 'likable' couple for all the fans, but they are a superior couple to Penny&Leonard.

Now, Howard & Bernie were cute together at the beginning, but later on, she was too much like his mother, and he acted as the mommy-boy and spoiled only child that he was, she was meaner to him as the show progressed, always pointed out to him that she earns so much more money than him, he, on the other hand, acted very childish, spending all the money for stupid stuff, and again, acting more like her spoiled son not the husband! Which made them both pathetic pair way too often. The great moments between them like when Howard wrote& performed a love song to Bernie in the hospital, were just too rare in the last few seasons.

But Howard & Bernie were still miles better than Leonard& Penny, as they were actually happy having kids together, meanwhile, Penny & Leonard were such a disaster that they found out they had different opinions regarding having children ONLY after the wedding, it was very sudden & bad. Howard matured a little with Bernie, and they were both great parents & despite all, they were happy together, they built a happy family. Leonard & Penny finally had a kid by accident, and it seems Penny simply forced herself to have this one & give Leonard what he wanted, but she never seemed completely happy with this decision, as if she didn't do it for herself. So Howard & Bernie were better than Leonard & Penny but still, they fought more and were less in sync than Sheldon & Amy.

So by all objective measures, and following what happened on the show, just as Sheldon said, the ranking of the couples of TBBT is: 1. Sheldon& Amy 2. Howard & Bernie and
3. Leonard& Penny

I don't support sheldons points oversaturatedly but nowadays a relationship isnt even a relationship. An example would be sheldons food issues so therefore no commonship with Amy kinda like Emily Gilmore and Lorelai. As for penny and leonard, they may have different careers but their both regular humans and not a sheldon granny. Also, there's nothing wrong with an opposite attraction relationship its just sadly hell from observing general life shows&reality and depends

Sheldon was right tho. Penny and Leonards relationship was one of the most toxic in the show. A few heartfelt moments here and there dont cover up how bad their issues were.
