YES. I HATE when streaming seemingly pulls their content arbitrarily and when they lock content behind even more packages. It's just turned into cable again.

I’m even more “old fashioned”. I’m a cinephile, meaning I not only love movies, I love theatrical experience, just as you do. A movie ticket in my hand, popcorn and soda, feeling the collective reaction of people who’s watching a film for the first time. Have a movie, DVD, Blue Ray, VHS whatever in my hand, just like having a cassette, CD, or LP, or a book. The digital world is amazing, I’m not gonna lie. But a lot of times I feel dragged into this social media stuff, I feel the need of deciding instead of floating in this ocean of digital numbness.

Amen to that! DVDs also have bonus/extra videos like Deleted Scenes, Gag Reels, The Making Of, etc, etc.

Another thing is alterations - I was hearing a podcast about Dawn of the dead remake - they were baffled with how they entered the mall. There is a whole scene that was deleted from the version on cinema and you can´t find the whole movie in any of the streamings.

Absolutely. Nothing like a proper library.

YES! Absolutely my answer too. I always try to get physical copies of movies I know I'll want to watch again and again. But aside from stuff getting arbitrarily pulled from services for licensing issues or the companies not wanting to pay residuals or whatever else, there's also a lot of movies and shows out there that just aren't on streaming services, or that you'd have to pay a monthly fee to watch on a platform with absolutely nothing else you like. Physical media still rocks and is far from obsolete.

I'm actually in that same boat as you, if you heard of a streaming service called HBO Max, they removed a lot of shows and movies due to the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, and it's all David Zaslav's fault for that

Yes. As my Steam and Epic Games library grows (very slowly, I don't have a lot of money) I'm getting increasingly more concerned that one day I won't be able to play some of those games. I paid for them, but I don't actually own a physical copy, which means I don't actually have them with me. That's why I defend that people make copies of the software and keep them in a backup disk. While the law doesn't agree, I can't stand behind the notion that I'm paying for a "service", when I buy a game. And obviously the same for movies, music and books. I want to be able to access what I've paid for forever. And for that I want a physical copy, thank you very much.

Also usually if you buy a new DVD it also includes a digital copy that you own, so you not only get the satisfaction of looking at your collection everyday BUT you also get the convenience of watching the movie anywhere you want on your phone/laptop

You nailed EXACTLY why I don't stream! Thank you!

I shop goodwill soley for vhs and dvds. Have gotten a massive collection of good shows to watch. And when i want to watch i check if its on a streaming service, usually its not. So i boot up my xbox and pop in the cd

Same. I'm old school. I still have the first CD I ever bought in 1996. Korn: Life Is Peachy.

This is exactly why I still dont mind physical media at least I can watch what I want I do not need to fear the Streamers pullong them out.

I'm to the point where I don't even really have any physical media, I had some for a short time but never really used them, I don't like it cluttering up space with tons of stuff I may or may never watch, at least with streaming it can be convenient especially with smart TV's having your apps all in one place, being able to watch it on any device, it just works out better for me tbh. I get the whole physical media thing but I'm just not a collector myself when it comes to physical media.

I got burned buying books for my Kindle. Had the entire Horus Heresy series, 54 books total. A big chunk of them had been bundled into 6 book chunks, which Games Workshop decided they didn't like and wanted to sell them individually. One day, 3/4 of the entire series, about two hundred and fifty bucks worth, just wouldn't open anymore. Called Amazon and they said touch luck.

I definitely prefer to own my own of my favorites because whilst all these streaming services have every DVD & Blu-ray I own they (streaming services) do not offer any of the special features bonus content or behind the scenes footage that’s usually included on the Blu-ray &/or DVD. Sometimes I can find a little bit of the aforementioned content on YouTube but now how many apps is that I’m up to? So yea I agree physical > streaming.

I prefer physical media because I like to actually commit to watching a movie.

I will always get DVDs no matter what. I also prefer physical game discs rather than having them digitally downloaded onto my system.

Completely agree what else is annoying is when they're missing installments of a franchise like part 2&3 but nit the first in franchise.

I think we've gotten to the point where physical media is more convenient than streaming. Also, libraries over digital renting. My local library doesn't even do late fees anymore and they auto renew.
