Thanks for the review. I got this a while ago and I was so glad I got the hardback. So pretty! Oh and I actually really liked the ending. The last sentence almost had me in tears. It's such a simple and true statement.

I loved the writing in this book. There is not that much of a plot, which bothered me a little but that beautiful proze definitely made it worth it for me :)

When I first picked this book up, I was expecting a futuristic novel that focused on the changing world due to the earth's slowing rotations. As a result, I was somewhat disappointed. However, it was, in fact, a coming of age story and the author successfully delivered that. Would have liked it if the author spent more time discussing humanity's reaction to extreme change and the quick division that arose between those who lived according to real time versus 24 hour clock followers.

I liked it for being a coming of age story, but I always like coming of age stories a lot and don't read a lot of sci-fi

I do not know if I ever like the ending to books. I can only think of a few books that had really good endings. I agree with other comments that the focus of coming of age versus the science fiction turns me off from the book. I'm not really into ya right now. The books focus on them being teens more than other more interesting aspects. It does sound interesting though.

maybe i'd be well equipped to live in the books world since where i live we have polar night, when night lasts more than 24 hours and midnight sun, when sun stays up more than 24 hours... this book has been in my to read list since it came out, but i took it as a sience fiction book, so glad you did this review so i will adjust my expectations towards the book and hopefully not be disappointed.

Yeah there is a lot of stuff in this book that could have been expanded upon, but it seems like they wanted to stay focused on Julia and just her growing up.
