Dude south keys needs to be on the list I lived in blossom park for years (in south keys area) and between drug dealers people chasing people with pipes…. Murder…. Ummm yah it isn’t good….. I moved to Embrun.

Southkeys/ Ledbury has always been a rough neighborhood. The public housing units are home to the Ottawa branch of the Crips.

There are mostly very good areas in the bay ward. Unfortunately there are some places of a few block radius' to avoid such as very close to bayshore shopping center and down in behind farmboy. Otherwise its good and for realestate it has been low on the radar for years due to an older demographic and continues to appreciate. Rideau and Byward Market are top on my list to avoid and getting worse over the last 10 years.

Personally I'd stay away from the Rideau Street / Market area. Tons of crap there all the time.

The bad areas in "Bayshore" area are near the mall. Around Ritchie Street, penny drive, and ramsay cresecent. Everywhere else is pretty good save for some rough spots around lincoln fields mall.

Maybe Ottawa has changed since I lived there 20 years ago. No mention of Lower Town, no mention of Hintonburg ... Carlington? Really? Vanier and parts of Bayshore have been bad for a long time though (Penny Drive in particular used to have a very bad reputation)

Appreciate your insights but feel that you should be careful of spreading misconceptions and stereotypes about neighborhoods.
Britannia/Bayard is an awesome place to live, great location, friendly people and diverse.
I have raised a family here and feel safe...meaning we don't have to be anymore cautious than living in Barhaven.

Please do more research before you feed into ..."reputations"

I live in bayshore and have never felt unsafe. Evenings are full of families going for a stroll and kids playing. Take a look at a crime map and then make your decision.

The bay is amazing, Carleton is great and damn Rideau Vanier is fine, just don’t let your kids out at night and watch them if leaving the house, I bike down there all the time. So you don’t live in Ottawa

I was riding my bike home, July 25, 2003, on the bike path near Donald when out of nowhere I get taken out by a baseball bat. I was lucky according to the doctor in emergency. I don't live there anymore. Crime has gone through the roof. It's a shame, it was such a nice place at one time but not anymore.

Heron Gate is bad along with Ledbury, Ritchie (Britannia Woods), Ramsay Cres, Overbrook and certain areas around Blossom Park. I've lived around Ottawa since 1972. The Market area and upper Bank Street have continued to decline over the last 20 years.

thing is you will find crime, drugs and homelessness in any city. It comes down to which city has the least crime, drugs and homelessness? Everywhere you go there is crime and drugs.

I disagree on the Bay area.. west end is beautiful, and there are a few rough neighborhoods, but the good outweighs the bad. West end homes close to the river are high value, and the people are really friendly. Lots of kids at the park playing basketball and even have an open community garden. Beautiful parks and greenspace, too. 😊😊
