What is the Role of the Land of Israel in Eschatology?

The people of Israel could keep the land if they were loyal to the covenant. But we know by the Exile that they lost the land. The big eschatological question is whether the promises are still in place, and that is crucial to interpreting correctly the New Testament when it comes to eschatology. Check this out!

To all these men of God who live in mansions and drive Bentleys: this is a man who spent his entire life trying to truly understand the Word and applying what's said. I think Yahweh will crown him alongside all who devoted that much discipline into getting the story correct. I love him.

The Divine Council worldview opens up the intended understanding of the scriptures. We can all praise God for Dr. Michael Heiser and the work he did to reestablish this very important biblical theme🔔❤️✔️

Excellent teacher. He frames the issues and challenges his students to make up their own mind. Looking forward to meeting you Brother.

No wonder he stays out of eschatology. But he does a good job of delineating what the choices are.

Paul’s journeys got recorded more than the rest, and got into the canon. Many of the other apostles went to Gentile lands to spread the gospel. As I watched each disciple on Chosen, I researched where they eventually went. Just imagine the difficulties of Thomas getting to India and spending years there, or Jude and Thaddeus in Mesopotamia, Armenia and Parthia. They must have given up a lot, please don’t forget them.

All Covenants with YHWH are conditional: Obedience to Him is absolutely necessary.

If Abraham had things he had to do to keep the covenant why did he not pass through the split animals as the seal of the covenant? Only God went through because He can’t fail and He won’t let Abraham go through because he could fail.

Part 1/2 I see how Dr. Heiser walked a fine line but the reality is that only 1 is true and the other is false and to know the truth all we need to do is look at reality. Short answer Yes, the covenant is in place.
The covenant was never about the Jews but GOD. GOD owns the land, always has, always will.
Genesis 15:18 On the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying: “To your descendants, I have given this land, ..." (Ownership)
Leviticus 25:1-2 And the Lord spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When you come into the land which I give you, ..." (Ownership)
Verse 23 ‘The land shall not be sold permanently, for the land is Mine; for you are strangers and sojourners with Me." ("The land is Mine"- Ownership) The word "Sojourners" means guest, visitor, someone who has no claim of ownership.
2 Chronicles 6:5-6 5 ‘Since the day that I brought My people out of the land of Egypt, I have chosen no city from any tribe of Israel in which to build a house, that My name might be there, nor did I choose any man to be a ruler over My people Israel. 6 Yet I have chosen Jerusalem, that My name may be there, and I have chosen David to be over My people Israel.’ (My Name may be there"- Ownership)
Joel 3:1-2 “For behold, in those days and at that time, When I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem, 2 I will also gather all nations, And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; And I will enter into judgment with them there On account of My people, My heritage Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land. ("My Land"- Ownership)

The question as Christians we need to ask ourselves isn't whether we agree with all of Israel's decisions or not. We need to ask "When did the LORD relinquish His claim of ownership over the Land of Israel and the City of Jerusalem?" Answer: NEVER. The second question is why after 1800+ years has the LORD (Owner of the land and Jerusalem) allowed the Jewish people back into the Land? Simple, He said He would. Ezekiel 37:21-23 21 When the LORD GOD speaks being an eternal GOD knowing the end from the beginning words like never again, anymore carry eternal weight. Here the LORD says "I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land;" (in progress) "...they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again." Clearly we see the land is still divided but the LORD says one day it won't be, and at that time the unification will be forever. This means that the LORD still has a plan for the land, the Jews and the nation of Israel. The LORD also says "They shall not defile themselves anymore with their idols...but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. Then they shall be My people, and I will be their God." This also has not happened yet.

Yes the LORD plucked them out of the Land but He also then sent them into the Gentile world to alter history, to show the rest of the world the GOD of Israel.
Once we have come to the fullness of the Gentiles, then ALL Israel will be saved. Romans 11:25-27.
Daniel 9:24 tells us that one day the Jews and Jerusalem will anoint Jesus as the Most Holy. This will happen at the end of the 70 weeks.
We see GOD say in Ezekiel 37:20-23 that He will gather the Jews back to the land and unite them so that they will never again be a divided kingdom. Is the kingdom divided now? Yes. So this prophecy hasn't been fulfilled. Same with Jeremiah 24:3-8. Either GOD is a liar or He will fulfill His Word.
One of the biggest mistakes Christians make today is that they place Matthew 24 in 70AD. Mark 13 which is a parallel passage to Matthew 24 debunks that idea.
See in Mark 11 Jesus curses the Fig Tree and it dies, 30+ times in the OT the term Fig Tree of Fig is used in relation to the Jewish people and the Promised Land.
Deuteronomy 8:7-8 7 For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills; 8 a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey;

Hosea 9:10a “I found Israel Like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers As the firstfruits on the fig tree in its first season.

So when Jesus cursed the Fig Tree and it died it was the same as if Jesus was in America with Americans and He cursed an eagle and it fell out of the sky and died.
Not a good thing for America, well this was not a good thing for Israel. It warned them that now Jeremiah 8:13 was coming.
“I will surely consume them, ” says the Lord. “No grapes shall be on the vine, Nor figs on the fig tree, And the leaf shall fade;
And the things I have given them shall pass away from them.” ’ ”

The LORD was going to take every blessing from them. The Temple, Jerusalem, the Land, even the name "Israel' was taken. By 135 AD the prophecy was fulfilled.
But in Mark 13 Jesus says in connection with His return
28 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender, and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 29 So you also, when you see these things happening, know that He is near—at the doors! 30 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.

This is the OPPOSITE of 70AD. GOD still owns the Land of Israel and the City of Jerusalem (Leviticus 25:23, Joel 3:1-2, 2 Chronicles 6:5-6.) And He has allowed the Jewish people back into the Land and City, His Land and City. Now do they believe in Jesus yet? No. And they won't as a whole until the time of the Gentiles is over. But they will. They are blinded for our benefit for a time, but that time is coming to an end soon.
They don't accept Jesus now because when they do Jesus will return and they will anoint Him as the Most Holy. That is the promise.
So be gracious they don't reject Jesus out of hate, they reject Him because they have been blinded to the true identity of the Messiah for a time. And they will receive another as the Messiah. John 5:43. They will receive and anoint the false Messiah aka the Antichrist who will be a Pharisee and a king. He will know the law very well. And through that they will see that the Law will never save them. Their Messiah is a liar and they will come to Jesus. Share the Gospel of course but know there is a greater plan at work here.

The fascinating aspect is that GOD allowed the Jewish people back into the land and Jerusalem exactly when He said He would.

How do we know? The framework of the Bible?
(Continued in Part 2)

Part 2/2 Genesis says GOD worked 6 days and rested for 1 = 7 days = 1 week.
We see this theme of working 6 days rest for 1 multiple times in the first 5 books.
In Genesis 2: it says
15 Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

Now we know Adam ate. So did he die in the subsequent 24 hours? No.
Genesis 5:5 So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years; and he died. (930 years old)

So is GOD a liar? No. It's a clue. Genesis 3 the punishment for the sin. 17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: “Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life...19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.”

The curse was that we would toil and work the earth by the sweat of our brow, and we would be mortals who died. Exodus 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

Adam lived 930 years which is just less than 1000 years. Psalm 90:For a thousand years in Your sight Are like yesterday when it is past, And like a watch in the night.
2 Peter 3: 8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

This isn't an allegory it's a cipher a ratio to understand Scripture. 1 heavenly day = 1000 earthly years. So Adam died in the "day" year 1-1000 he was created (year 930). year 1000 end of Day 1. Abraham year 2000 from Creation (end of Day 2). David year 3000 from Creation (end of Day 3). There is some debate about whether Jesus's crucifixion (32AD) or the destruction of the Temple (70AD) was the year 4000 but we are now 2000 years later (approx) so we are approaching the year 6000 (2032-2070AD).

So if 2032 AD is the year 6000 then that is the first milestone I would look for.

6 days or 6000 years we will be mortal. Then Jesus will return and in the 7th millennium, we will be immortal. 1 Corinthians 15:50-57.

Barnabas, AD First Century “Therefore, children, in six days, or in six thousand years, all the prophecies will be fulfilled. Then it says, ‘He rested on the seventh day.’ This signifies at the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus, He will destroy the Antichrist, judge the ungodly, and change the sun, moon, and stars. Then He will truly rest during the Millennial reign, which is the seventh day.” Epistle of Barnabas 15:7-9

Irenaeus 180 AD For in as many days as this world was made, in so many thousand years shall it be concluded. And for this reason the Scripture says: "Thus the heaven and the earth were finished, and all their adornment. And God brought to a conclusion upon the sixth day the works that He had made; and God rested upon the seventh day from all His works."(6) This is an account of the things formerly created, as also it is a prophecy of what is to come. For the day of the Lord is as a thousand years;(7) and in six days created things were completed: it is evident, therefore, that they will come to an end at the sixth thousand year. Against Heresies 5:28

Commodianus, AD 240 “We will be immortal when the six thousand years are completed.” Against the Gods of the Heathens 35 “Resurrection of the body will be when six thousand years are completed, and after the one thousand years, the world will come to an end.” Against the Gods of the Heathens 80

Methodius, AD 290 “In the seventh millennium we will be immortal and truly celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.” Ten Virgins 9.1

Victorinus, AD 240 “Satan will be bound until the thousand years are finished; that is, after the sixth day.” Commentary on Revelation 20.1-3

Justin Martyr (100-165AD) “There will be a literal one-thousand-year reign of Christ.” Justin Martyr, Dialogue 81

So if 2032 AD is the year 6000 (Some say it's 2070-2075 based on the Destruction of the Temple/Jerusalem being the year 4000.
We see that the LORD has allowed the Jews into Israel and Jerusalem exactly when He said He would at the end of the age. The end of the age of mankind's dominion. I hope this helps.

Galatians 3:7–9

[7] Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. [8] And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.” [9] So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. We are in the kingdom now., but not yet. The new Jerusalem comes down from heaven, "on earth as it is in heaven..."

4:30 No, YHWH did not abandon Israel. Israel abandoned their part of the covenant. Replacement theology (Dispensationalism) is a lie from the adversary (Ha’Satan).

Isaiah 56:6-8 (NKJV)
“Also the sons of the foreigner Who join themselves to the LORD, to serve Him, And to love the name of the LORD, to be His servants— Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath, And holds fast My covenant—
7 Even them I will bring to My holy mountain, And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices Will be accepted on My altar; For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.”
8 The Lord GOD, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, says, “Yet I will gather to him Others besides those who are gathered to him.”

Folks, the New Testament interprets the Old, not vice-versa. In light of what Michael just said please read the book of Hebrews. It explains exactly how we are to interpret the Land. It's really not as complicated as it seems. Abraham did not ultimately view the physical land of Israel as fulfilment of God's promise. It was a symbol of a greater fulfilment yet to come (Heb 11.9-10) for all his offspring (those who live by faith in Yahweh).

In the opening he Said Paul saw himself as a key instrument to “RECLAIM” the nations. The word “RECLAIM” is similar to the word “RECONCILE” found in Romans 11. Both rely on a both sides having had a former relationship. You can reclaim or reconcile to someone you never knew or never had a relationship to. The most high or Christ never had a relationship with the heathen nations. Dr Heisner himself has taught what we HEBREW ISRAELITES have been saying for years. That is only the god of Israel. He taught that through Deuteronomy 32:8-9. Where we see god assigning other deities from his heavenly council to be the gods of the other nations. Saying that “his portion is Israel l, Jacob the lot of his inheritance”. There’s multiple scriptures further on in scripture reaffirming that. Therefore we know that the nations Paul was to ”reclaim”or “reconcile” to god could only be Israelites. Not heathens whom he said he never knew or dealt with.
