I am a 36 year old nobody enjoying his music for over 12 years, 5800 miles from Japan. He'll never know how influential his music turned out to be, but you will.

Nujabes is the only thing that heals my soul these days. I go out for a walk every morning, listening his songs. It gives me the energy to move on in life.

I’m writing this on 21.10.21. Four hours ago my dog (german shepherd) passed away. She lived for 12 years and became a true member of my large family. I was with her when life took her. She didn’t suffer and it was quick.
Last month I ordered Nujabes’s vinyl. Took it from post office that morning, a few hours before my dog passed.
All my close relatives (they live in their own houses) came home to say goodbye to a dog with whom we lived for so many years.
“Modal Soul” was playing the whole evening. My sister and my mother, who know nothing about Nujabes, asked what a nice music I turned on.
I think maybe without Nujabes’s music saying “goodbye” to my close friend and beloved pet would be way more painful.
And I will always be thankful to that wonderful Japanese guy who wrote such beautiful melodies, ‘cause my pain could be way harder without that beautiful music.

Always in my heart, close to my dog, Nujabes..

If it wasn't for Nujabes, I wouldn't be making music today. He's a true inspiration even in the after-life. RIP You absolute genius.

I'm 34 years old men. I bought my first headphone, just for hearing that 'Feather' on my school-days. Now, the headphone has damaged by accident, but the headphone is always hanging on one side of my room. This album is like my headphone. I think, the final position of the headphone will be in my coffin.

I used to listen to Nujabes years ago with my older brother who taught me everything I know about music. I haven't seen him in 3 years now and I always come here to go back to the memories I have with him. I miss him so much.

My bro did not know of Nujabes. I don't know why it took me this long to realize this was an album for him. I texted his wife "Hey, do you think he'd like Nujabes?" and her response was that she used to have this album but lost it, but that was before she even met him. Gave it to him this last Christmas.

Nujabes is the vibe at any point of life. nothing will get me to a sense of calm faster than this album. Truly hope that he felt just how heavily he was appreciated before his passing. The man was an absolute legend.

I’m French, and 15 years ago, I met a young Parisian artist who was making rap music. He and his friends spent a few days at my place in the south of France, and we quickly became friends too.

He spent those days introducing me to old-school rap from all over the world. Whenever I hear that kind of vibe, I think back to those moments in my small apartment—smoking joints and listening to 80s and 90s rap.

Today, that young artist has become one of the biggest rappers in France. And whenever I listen to his songs, I always remember that summer week in 2010 when he told me he wanted to become as timeless as the artists he admired. I’m sure that when he’s feeling down, he still listens to those same tracks and thinks about his youth—before the fame. Back when he could still walk the streets of the south of France, where he’s from, and ask young students if they had a cigarette he could use to roll a joint.

Long life to you, young artist. Never forget to be happy.
