I appreciate the angle you took on this short.

My old man always called those a "Dangle Indicator" cause it shows you the angle of the dangle

The end grain on that bench top is like a natural history museum exhibit, counting the rings back to the Middle Ages 👌

This was very useful, James, especially b/c I’ve collected so many diff types of bevel gauges! Thanks!

I have exactly the same model with the brass lever.

I love how you put the different styles together in a Face Off to determine which is less Cagey

Great little tip. Silly little joke. Love it all.

I had no idea you could get ones that lock on the end. Im always having issues with the nut getting in the way. Ill be buying a new sliding bevel on payday

I've got a Veritas that has a cammed toggle that you thumb down flush, to lock. Leaves both handle faces free of obstructions. They're discontinued, but I've seen them on Ebay

When using the center locking nut with the nut on the bottom side, I just tighten it enough to not move without some force applied, then place it and move the arm where it needs to be, tighten when lifted if needed. Seems logical, possibly too complex for some.

I have not heard the phrase "if I had my druthers" in a long time lol

There's very few bevel gauges with an end nut available, no?
-old Stanley's and their copies, all vintage tools
-Shinwa's
-Vesper (but exorbitant price and very few made each year)

Schwarz chose to go the flat screwdriver route, which I don't find a good choice in itself (but maybe that's what enabled them to have a way to separate rotation lock and sliding lock, which is quite the innovation)

now i finally know what to use that thing for!

Huh, didn't know there was one with the lock on the end. Gotta have it, I HATE it when it's on the side.

Do you have a spoke shave video? I recently acquired one and I'm having trouble getting the angle of the blade and angle of the draw correct.

What’s with the glitch at the end? Love the face off reference. They are too few and far between

You gotta do that nut up against the front or the back. Much easier without a leg in the way

One way, or another, he's gonna, tighten, tighten, tighten you real good!🎵

I made my own bevel gauge with a centrelock mechanism, it tightens with a wing nut. I'm curious about the ones that lock at the end of the stock, how does that mechanism work? I might try to make one of those.

I got one with a counter sunk flat head screw 😂
