So I’ve always noticed if the umpire doesn’t align himself with the catcher then 9/10 times he’s gonna miss the call. When the catcher adjusts for a certain spot adjust with him.

I've always said, you know it's bad when the announcers who are paid to he neutral to umpires start saying bad things

3:39 is ridiculous. And the pirate homer announcer makes it worse. Living in Pittsburgh, thats just shameful.

Sequence starting at 3:24 is also on the batter. If a pitch in that location is consistently getting the call, you have to swing.

New rule must be that as long as the catcher frames it as a strike, then it is one.

The catchers are wrong for framing those even though they were 1 foot off. 😂😂😂

I have seen it. A wild pitch but the plate umpire called a third strike instead of a ball against the batter as of backward K. We need robots instead of umpire, and sometimes robots can be smarter then the umpire.

Maybe have pitch comm for the ump so they can be told when they missed a call and perhaps learn from it and improve moving forward.

Just a video idea. The Mets vs. Cards game from 4/28/24, is everything good with baseball.

Its amazing the umpires are looking at the catchers glove and not the ball is astonishing. Framing is a crappy tactic and the umpires suck at calling balls and strikes as it is.

I always thought umpires took way too much unfair advantage of what were known as "judgement calls". More of them were bad than those that could be challenged, and a large majority were deliberate. The worst reason I thought I ever saw for a third strike that signaled the last out of a game was the umpire was tired and wanted the game to end so he could go home. As a depressed person, I would understand, but even I know that doesn't make it right. I never thought my kind should even be considered for refereeing any kind of sports anyhow. This kind of thing was one of the many reasons I quit attending and/or watching sports, but was by no means the most important

Do you remember the Wheel Of Fortune when Vana had to actually find and turn the letters? Now that balls and strikes can be accurately determined electronically why not just let the umpires make the call based on the electronics. In most cases they are missing calls by inches which considering the speed and movement as well as their vantage point they aren’t doing bad. The second option is to stop showing the electronic results rather let MLB use it to grade their umpires.

Umpires were trained by Angel Hernandez.

it doesn't matter which side you are on: one happy and another sad. that is the ball game.

Bucknor’s call was the worst! He’s clearly a Pittsburgh fan!

If MLB cared they would make a serious effort to crack down on getting fooled by pitch framing. So many of these bad calls are catchers framing the pitch back into the zone and the umps just repeatedly falling for it. Catchers tricking umps with framing hasn't been a secret over the last decade or two. The umps should get smarter and adjust.

A lot of other bad strike calls are clear go-home calls late in lopsided or high scoring games. Baseball is one of the only sports where lots of scoring actually slows the game down. Umps often will start calling little league strikes late in these games just to get the game over with.
