This is so true. I was treated like royalty on Korean Airlines. On an American flight, you're treated like an inconvenience.

Literally, on Canadian airlines you only get a small snack, a small drink (at most) and nothing else. On Chinese airlines you get a whole meal, blankets, free headphones, and sometimes even a second meal.

I remember being like 13 alone heading to my dads and I asked if the water was free cuz I was taking some painkillers; the flight attendant solemnly shook his head, I nodded in agreement, looked down, then felt a nudge on my shoulder, when I looked up he was handing me a water bottle and did the “shh” gesture with a wink. Love that guy.

This is very true for ANA, I remembered very clearly. I was a teen at that time flying back to my home country from Japan. I bought some gyoza to eat on the plane. After the meal service they turned off the light to let passengers sleep and that's when the flight attendants also take their break because it was a midnight flight. I was watching a movie on my iPad and bust opened the gyoza to eat them. The flight attendant tapped on my shoulder and it gave me a slight fright because I didn't see her not heard her walking towards me, she asked if I wanted anything to drink to go with my supper.

And that is why Singapore airlines will always remain my favourite airlines, last flights I had terrible back rib pain and the flight attendants were so kind and helpful, not to mention I was late to my second flight apologised profusely and they assured me they weren’t waiting for me because I was the second last person they were waiting for, genuinely the most accommodating and kind people I’ve had the pleasure to fly with.

US airlines used to have good service until someone decided to promote the fact that the flights attendant’s job is for your safety and not to provide you with good service, when in actuality, it should be both. Asian airlines and also many European airlines still still continue to have these values while US airlines have pretty much given their flight attendants the right to treat passengers like they’re dispensable.

I went to Turkey last summer (almost Asia) there were already headphones on the seat and a screen to watch something or listening to music. Really, royal treatment we needed y'all

On a western airline - I was so cold once, I had to use the folded emergency instructions as a blanket. They said they didn't have any blankets. 😭😭😭 It kinda worked cuz of the lamination.

This is so true about Asian flights, once when I was a child on a Asian airline the staff gave me a free blanket and gave my mom free earbuds so she can watch a movie.

Recently flew Germany and Switzerland airlines and they had headphones, blanket and pillow all free and nice snacks and a lot of free drinks.
Meanwhile Canadian airlines give 1 or 2 free drinks if you're lucky and barely a snack. You have to bring your own headphones unless you want to pay 😭 I miss when they used to offer free headphones too 10 years ago
