Read the paper and this is great work. On the critical side, however, using priors of established chronologies within the Bayesian inference would be much like hypothesis testing. To make the resulting chronology something like absolute at least one negative control wouldn't hurt. A prior like one of the alternative fringe theory chronologies proven wrong would be a definite success.

A 4500 year old tree in california was sampled and its tree rings showed exactly when santorini blew its top. It was 1628 b.c. That year it was like the tree never experienced a spring or summer. That lasted for several years which is exactly what happens when ash blocks sunlight from hitting the earth.

Isn't it true that "radiocarbon dating accuracy" stops at 1400 BC, from there it is mostly "guess work?"
