Leaders Keep Teaching | Epic Men | The Book of 1 Timothy | Ep. 18

This is the second time Paul says to teach these things to people you serve.
·      Then, notice how he encourages Timothy to INSIST that people learn these things
·      A huge caution is offered to not allow people to discount you as a leader due to your age. How do you do that? Here are 5 ways to do that.
o   Be an example in what you say. Not only in what you say, but how you say it.
o   Be example in the way you live. People are watching you to see if what you say is being lived out.
o   Be an example by how you demonstrate the love of God
o   Be an example by how your practice your faith
o   Be an example of living a pure life before people where they cannot condemn you for living something contrary to what you teach.
·      Next, Paul adds 5 more for Timothy, a leader to do
o   Read the scriptures to others
o   Encourage people so they can overcome the discouragement that comes their way
o   Teach them what to do with what they read from scripture and hear from Timothy’s teaching
o   Do not neglect the gifting God has given you. (spend a little time explaining this)
o   Spend your time developing the previous 9 things in your life to enable other people to see you living them out and take courage that they can do the same
·      Note Paul’s closing remarks in this chapter.
o   He emphasizes to watch how you live and your teaching. Nothing casual or lightly done with proper study, prayer and consideration
o   The purpose for all done all of the things before this is for your own benefit and for the people who are listening to you. Both Timothy’s and others salvation can be affected. This is very serious stuff.
