Now it's time to make this very classic but small model airplane, this is a free flight rubber powered airplane that can fly indoors, you can fly it as a glider or as a rubber powered model, it uses balsa wood and Japanese tissue for covering.

I ended up using covering film instead, which completely warped the wing, in the end the wings were different shapes but glad to say it still flew great. Keep them coming please.

I use to make my own string control planes as a kid, and love designing and flying equally. I used a solid wing design for my micro gliders I would build just to fly indoors and used a high ratio wing design for a solid wood plane that if you can imagine the predator drone type wing I used sanding blocks and carve the wings curves like homing a knife and I would mount the wings on a saddle so I could move the wing up and down the airframe to fine tune the balance, use a pencil eraser for the nose cone good weight and it bounces! I would also use Gilmore balsa rubber band powered kits for donor parts like their world famous Red Propeller and great landing gear that was indestructible. we would see who could take off fly and land one free flight.

Dude that's epic but since I'm a paper crafter I made it all with glue and paper with some tape it's amazing man

Pretty sweet! I scaled it up, put 12 ribs in each wing instead of 5, added a slight undercamber in the ribs and and lots of gussets and strengtheners! It flys pretty darn well!👍😜 deffo recommend this as a beginner runner power plane!

A good source of tissue I found in shoe boxes where I live. They are not very big but also in the hospital they use sheets to cover the foot of the examination beds which is also usable but a bit heaver. I was fortunate enough many years ago to get 100 massive sheets of Japanese tissue which is super light.

Very nice video, well executed and well presented, the only fault I could find was adding weight near the CG when it would have been been better to have removed the appropriate amount of weight from the nose, especially when a power system was being considered.

Nice job of removing excessive weight by carving (or lightly sanding) of the frame, etc. to lower the overall flying weight.

Also, your stand for balancing your model's CG was more precise than using your finger tips; I have models in size from 'peanut' scale to a few which are 12 ft. and 14 ft. and use this same technique for all of them to establish the CG.

I've always been intrigued with the 'penny planes' used for indoor competition and am hoping to get enough interest in my area, Riverside County, CA., to establish a competitive format at one of the local high schools gymnasium.

Thank You for one of the better tutorials I've seen so far on the You Tube Chanel.

Beautiful plane! Just the channel I was looking for. Really waiting for the larger plane you teased at the end of the video.

I can understand that CA is perhaps lighter than aliphatic resin (aka wood glue, yellow glue). But wood glue will give a much stronger bond if properly applied; i.e. - thin coat, dry, thin coat, join. Especially if you poke little holes into the wood with a pin, so the glue can for sort of "pegs" so to speak. This works with CA and epoxy etc. too of course.

You need to make a bigger propeller to resuce the speed and maximize the torque and the flight time

Hi! May I ask what spray did you use in 7:07? and how did you do the fuselage?
