One student was killed and two others were injured after a masonry column collapsed at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Officials say the students were sitting on hammocks when a column that was holding them up collapsed.

This was my friend who died. I remeber the last time i saw him. My uber was late and i stayed at his house i remeber saying bye to him not knowing it was the last time id see him.

"Lateral forces, " =often bad. Should be right up there w stuff they teach you for the insane amount of money you give them. Brick columns aren't built for that.

I've seen "highly" (or at least "expensively") "educated" kids not know you can't put a pizza box in the oven over 451F, or that it'll set the house on fire if you give it more AIR by throwing it onto a wood porch.

I've seen grown men not know how to use a tire gauge. Had to tell an adult man, "That's not FIVE psi, it's FIFTY." It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.

Also had to tell the same "college educated" kid that a huge bubble (egg) on the sidewall is extremely bad. Even dragged a mechanic over to tell him that, too. When they blow up is kind of like why they have tire cages for fooling with tires. They've killed people when they blow up.

This is kind of a dumbassed accident. I don't know what drug or drink would make 6 people in a hammock seem smart under any circumstances...
