My main goal is to help Catholics connect to a Bible that will draw them into deeper Scripture study and devotion. I do this by giving "close looks" at Catholic Bibles in video format.
.
🔸Today I'm looking at the Ignatius Bible Compact Zipper edition. A beautiful little edition that makes a great companion to Mass or Adoration or anywhere on-the-go.

I got mine a couple of months ago. Love the size and zipper. Print is tiny, but I’m able to read. switched out the miraculous medal for a blessed one.

I am not catholic, but I enjoy your videos. I too had a compact edition several years ago. I liked it as well.

I'd love it if they released an RSV-2CE version of this.

You share the best bible reviews on YT, thank you. Is really helpful for me when trying to decide which is best for purchasing as some bibles can be really expensive. Thank you 🙏

Great review, and filled with the drama of daily life e.g. children and spilt coffee!

Awesome video, thank you. Just bought my copy a couple of days ago. As German I meanwhile prefer the RSV-CE Zippered ed. while for the go. I like the style of the translation. It seems to me that this bible translation is not subject to ecumenical concessions as for example the German "Einheitsübersetzung" (new revised edition published in 2016) which you can hardly distinguish from the "Luther Bible" (newly revised in 2017, the 500. birthday of the Reformation). For example, Matthew 18, 17 is translated commonly in German bibles as "
If he doesn't listen to them, tell the congregation" ("..wenn er aber auch nicht auf sie hört, dann sag es der Gemeinde"). But congregation or community or "Gemeinde" is not the same as "church" ("Kirche"), which is mentioned only here in Matthew and in the 16th chapter of Matthew. I also preferre the non-inclusive language: yes, we living today are likely to add "...and sisters" everytime when someone says "Listen, brothers". But that is not what the text is like. The text addresses "brethren" only. In my opinion it is false ideology to alter the text until it pleases us.

This is fantastic! And so true - the best Bible is one that you read!

I was really hoping to find a bible like this (with the zipper, nice and compact) in the RSV2-CE translation. Do you or anyone else who happens to see my comment have any recommendations?

Have you tried bible tabs ? They are very helpful.

How exactly is this one different from the Oxford University Press RSVCE Compact Bible with a zipper?

Great video! Does this translation use gender neutral language? Or does it use gendered language like the RSV-2CE?

Please get some help in making these videos. When you try to show us something, you don't hold the book at a decent viewable angle. At least this video showed the bible upright. the one you did on the LARGE PRINT RSV-CE had the bible at a 90-degree angle from the viewer.
