My sister spoke up after being groped at a party, mainly because the guy went on to r*pe a freshman that very same night and she knew he was going into a field where he’d have access to vulnerable people.

She was treated horribly by pretty much everyone involved including the r*pe victim, who feared receiving the same social exclusion. Luckily my sister was going to transfer anyway (was a major upgrade; way better campus culture where she went) and is tough enough to take it.

There were consequences for the assaulter too. He lost his place at a prestigious professional school (being vague for privacy) and will therefore no longer be exposed to vulnerable people as an authority figure in the future. Had she not spoken up, bad things likely would have happened to others.

But that’s why folks don’t speak up. She had an absolutely amazing amount of evidence, yet it made her a near pariah.

With his ego, he probably also wanted a diddy biography made. He was proud of the horrible things he did. Diddy deserves to have the book thrown at him.
