Ichiran IS better in Japan, tho. The broth is more potent, the chasiu is better and egg is actually soft boiled. I still eat it when I go to Japan.

If your ever in the Massachusetts area you should try Ganko Ittetsu Ramen there are a couple locations but it’s genuinely the best ramen I’ve ever had and me and my boyfriend drive up 2 hours to get it every month. We recommend the Tan Tan pork ramen.

I think Ichiran makes perfectly fine ramen. Is it the best? No. Is it the cheapest? No. But you literally customize your own bowl. Complaining it’s bad or mid is like complaining about your Chipotle order. And a full meal is like $13- $15. More expensive than other Japanese ramen places for sure, but that’s about the price of A BOWL in America? Not the extortionate prices people make it out to be.

Yes, there are better places but imo Ichiran excels in being friendly to foreigners. It’s everywhere, they make it easy to order, and it has a lot of locations that are open late/24 hours in case you’re from a different time zone.

I’m Japanese, born and raised there, and ichiran is probably one of my favorite tonkotsu ramen. In my opinion, you can’t compare tonkotsu against Shoyu, Miso, Shio, etc. and I have a favorite for each type, but ichiran is up there for tonkotsu.

There's a crab ramen spot in Nishi-azabu called Kani Ramen Hinata. Highly recommended!
