Heading to Japan to collect Pokemon Cards? Here's what you need to know.

Japan is the mecca of Pokemon Cards, but working out where to start and which stores to visit first can be daunting. Luckily, I visited over 90 Japanese Pokemon Card stores across 6 different cities, to fully understand the current state of Japanese Pokemon Card collecting and find the BEST Pokemon Card stores within Japan.

Can you still find Booster Boxes on the shelves? Is finding Sun and Moon Special Arts an impossible task? Are cards really cheaper than they are online? And can you still find bargains if you're a Vintage Pokemon Card collector? Join me as I dive into the world of Japanese Pokemon Cards - right from the source!

I live stream all week over at Twitch - follow me already!

As someone who lives in Japan, i always go for the yellow sticker cards. they are always severely marked down with little to no scratches or bents. this is a collector's paradise!

Also love the bulk pile of cards. It's like hunting for treasure sometimes.

Oh man what a trip - Japan is my number one holiday I've had, but never got the time to go card hunting. Nice to see this video. Got a few international trips on our channel coming up too

Seeing today’s prices and last year prices makes me sick to my stomach. That was such a crazy ride last summer. 😭

With the yen so low, it makes sense for foreigners to come here and buy them. I have a friend that's into Yu-Gi-Oh cards and I go around shopping for the cards he wants and just mail them for him.

Man I can't wait to go and experience card shopping in Japan for myself. Gonna be like a kid in a sweet shop.

Japanese cards just hit differently, the english ones are literally my childhood but there's just something special with the cards being in their original language.

Graded a Japanese Moonbreon with a yellow sticker in Tokyo, sent it to PSA for grading and got a 10 :)

You have no idea how much I appreciate these videos. Cards we don't have and maybe never heard of, always awesome to see. Thanks!

I was in Japan a month ago and wish this video came out sooner! I was definitely overwhelmed card shopping and having all this information beforehand would have been super nice. Keep up the great content!

I was in Japan a few months ago and bought a ton of cards. Akihabara is the obvious place to shop but I actually bought a lot more at Denden Town in Osaka. The latter is smaller but more condensed so it was easy to pop in and out of stores more quickly.

i love the e series so much. when i started collecting in 2020, that was what i ended up focusing on. i was able to find most of my chase cards when they were much cheaper, and graded most in psa 10.

honestly though i paused at 2:22 and the booster box prices are higher than even the Japanese msrp price. so even the japanese stores are rising prices now

Love this. Going back to Japan in three weeks, and can't wait to look through these shops again.

yep i went to tokyo last month and i think i saved my flight back to japan just by buying slabs/cards for 15-80% off. not every card and not every card shop is an amazing discount that's what's fun about card shopping/hunting in japan. contrary to this video, if i owned a pokemon shop i would definitely fly to japan and buy stuff to sell outside of japan. i think that's what pokemon steven does, it makes sense if you have a good eye for the pokemon card market

Maybe I got lucky but I do recommend taking 5-10 minutes to look in some of those loose boxes. I found tons of vending, mcdonalds promos, movie deck promos for 50-100y a piece in akihabara. So if you don’t care about condition too much you can get a lot for not too much

Looking forward to the other parts of the series! Going to Japan in November so I'm hoping to catch some of the shops while I'm there.

I’m in Japan for the first time and this was super helpful! I’ll be hitting up a bunch of shops in Akihabara soon! Thanks Julian 😊

"Ah, Suimasen, Retorona kaado ga arimasu ka?" was the go-to, especially in the bigger stores. You can tell they just price and forget about them though. You'll see two exact same cards in the exact same condition just priced wildly differently.
