While the CCPA and GDPR are quite different, they do share many similarities, including the following.

Definitions:

The CCPA refers to ‘information that can be used to identify a person as ‘personal information,’ while the GDPR calls it ‘personal data.”

Scope:

Both laws affect businesses and individuals operating outside of the geographical locations where the laws originate.

Privacy Policy:

Both laws require the publishing of a Privacy Policy. Note that the CCPA has additional, specific requirements for what must be disclosed in a Privacy Policy.

Consumer Rights:

Both laws grant extensive rights to consumers, with the GDPR’s being slightly more robust.

Enforcement:

Both laws can be enforced through public and private means.
