Hello; the wrong thing about these exams are that thought by people that are not so bright regarding real Life and seem that are library rats.
I mean; if a person will take the FIRST test like the N5 (that by the way all these test only work to have a "card presentation" or some kind of degree to fill curriculum to possible find a job but NOT to really learn a Language)
how in the World they start talking that way that a rookie in the language cannot understand only a few not connected words?
Even worst the textbooks where you are starting to learn hiragana, presentation; etc and have 2, 3 pages with incomprehensible kanji and kana for a person that are starting from zero?
When somebody say about n given kani or n given words to know for N5 N4 etc...think in double or triple if not you will be a bit confused wasting precious time doing the test trying to figure out what is the meaning.
Then the logic behind...is difficult to understand what they ask due a beginner cannot understand those words that they speak and there is no English or other language like here explaining what is going on.
By the way; you never ever learn to speak etc by grammar.
