Playing with plasma to try to make the fabled Sci-Fi weapon trope. You actually can make plasma into sort of a blade shape, but there are some caveats...

I tried making a halo energy sword like you described and it was a bit challenging (especially with the length) but a few of the tests did look pretty cool!
