the difference is plot
marine ford was a main arc where they spent more episodes exploiting the main characters feats
while the beehive was a sub-arc, meaning they spent less episodes exploiting the main characters feats, if the beehive was written to be a main arc they would have allowed garp to endure much more hits but they couldn't waste time as the story needed to go on

Garp was fighting his former pupil so it’s not like garp wanted to kill him and when garp did “blue hole” you could literally see him tearing up so I definitely think garp was holding back he even called kuzan weak

This is an extremely dumb comparison because Garp never got tagged by bullets or random swords, he got stabbed by arguably a top 3 swordsman at the time who has one of the best blades in the verse and Aokiji, a marine admiral. He is also fighting solo against an entire Yonko crew with basically young kids at his side and is doing it at a much older age than Whitebeard with no devil fruit hacks either

Oda did Garp dirty by this rescue. Yes he fought a yonko crew and an admiral by himself, and saved everyone, but this isn't a way to go for this kind of legend.

wb was definitely stronger overall in my book, but only by that much. since devil fruits basically do whatever u want it to within ur available energy limit. but haki deteriorate with the body

remember that WB came to Marineford with a whole fleet and strong enough captains ready to support him, while Garp only had a small fleet and he was the one doing it all
