Train Simulator 2021 | Cross City Line | What A Disappointment

Hello and welcome back to another Train Simulator 2021 video.

I've been super hyped since the announcement that the Cross City line was coming to Train Simulator 2021... but not as hyped as I was when I saw it would bring a Class 323 also! Finally we'll have this amazing EMU in Train Simulator!

The route will set you back £24.99, the standard price for Dovetail routes, and to be fair to the route it isn't half bad. I'd have liked to have seen a little bit more London Midland on the stations but other than that it's a decent recreation of the line...

Then I got to drive the Class 323... I should have seen it coming... this is a DTG creation after all... The physics when driving are lousy... but they're not half the problem. The sounds are just not up to scratch for this modern time we play in. Looking at what Armstrong Powerhouse are able to do with their sounds there is simply no excuse for this product sounding as bad as it does...

I hope AP or anyone makes a sound pack for the 323. It desperately needs an upgrade.

Great vid! I heard DTG contacted AP and asked them about sounds for the 323, and when they saw how much it was to get them they refused

Dovetail were like "you want the 323? here is your damn 323!" except it's clearly broken in the audio department and placed on a way too short route with only a single official livery and a lot more broken content on the route and train.

TS2021 is just a lost cause at this point. It's very sad that DTG are now just a cash grap quantity over quality company.

I would buy this just for the route itself. The Class 323 is just a bonus in my opinion. Although just for kicks. I would drive a Class 313 on it for the sheer hell of a laugh and the craic!

The model is pretty bad. Things I noted was that the interlock light doesn't illuminate and the line voltage light doesn't go off as you go through a neutral section. Also the sounds constantly cut out which is wrong and when you idle the sounds keep trying to loop. It's like they know AP or whoever is going to have to fix their crap sounds so they don't even try. Bits of bridges popping out of render as they get near the edge of your screen. As for specifics about the model the front lights area is really bad and the doors are the completely wrong size.

Was so excited when I saw this! I know the southern part of the XCity line exists somewhere, and was eager to see how they rendered the north. Then I saw your comment! Oh well. I used to travel this line a lot for my work and it's good to see how faithfully they have reproduced the city-scape. I know Duncan from a past life (good chap) and I also have a friend who I think still drives this route. Thanks for the video.

DTGs mistakes are basically what keep AP in business.

The stopping sounds are spot on. It's the break up of the sound on acceleration that's the pain. The weird sounds are the thyristors, not the traction motors. The overall sound is driver style dependent. Edit.... I've just checked the Openbve class 323 and the various run sounds are totally different but are the correct ones.

I find it very annoying with the UK trains that the emergency brakes come on for no reason... Tried everything including waiting for 2 to 4 minutes and nothing resets. So I just hear beeping all the time but cannot get power or move forward. I'm sick of having to restart the scenario all the time.

Hey, not sure if ur aware but there’s a guy who has made a freeware sound patch for the 323, it’s hosted on ATS, it massively improves the 323 sounds making it drivable until AP Work their magic on it...

I was so disappointed when loading this up I thought it was an issue with my game! Also, why does all the track sound effect have the same tinny sound you traditionally get going over a bridge?

mate the tail lights are manual on some trains

DTG have done the taillights how they are done IRL on the 323 and AP have done the same with the 321
