Jes - I don't know if you'll see this but I understand where you're coming from... Not "passing" can be scary even when you are proud of who you are. I think you pass; I think this situation made people think harder about your gender than they would've in another given situation. So don't feel bad! Us trans folks need to be easier on ourselves when it comes to these things because we are our biggest advocates! Much love <3

Who they identify as literally doesn't affect us at all, why all the hate? Just leave them alone, they're people too.

Things like "genders" are only vague concepts made by human beings that can be kind of understood when we're making some noise to understand those concepts (talking) to each others. It simply doesn't exist, just like money doesn't really exists. It's interpretation of concepts that we've learned since we're young. We think it's real because a vast majority of people think that way and well, if masses think that way, the majority will start thinking that way. If people argue on this kind of matter, it simply means that there's no certainties about the concept. There's a big clash about this and whether there's 2 genders, or multiple, or even infinite genders, no one can prove it because it was created by the human mind. There will always be arguments trying to prove that multiple genders exists, or not, depending on how you personally interpret those concepts...

I hope I was clear, I find it hard to explain my thoughts on this, and English is not my first tongue. Feel free to share what you think!

thank you for this. it answered some questions for me...or at least started too.

recently i cut my hair short because it's just a style i always liked and wanted to try. a few days after i posted the picture of my new cut a friend came to me very offended. Not because I cut it, but because someone had asked her if I was gay. I told her no and laughed and tried to explain how I really don't think that's not even something to offended about, although she still thought I had been insulted. I didn't lie to my friend. I'm not gay, although as a young teen I thought I might be because I was so different from my peers. I was born a female and very much prefer guys. The whole situation got me thinking more than ever about my gender vs my younger self's thoughts about sexuality. I've never really felt like a 'girl.' or a 'woman.' Never really have. And kinda how I found myself here is that I don't feel like a guy either. It's not that I'm transgender...or gay...or i don't even know. it's that i don't want to be just female. I like a lot of steryotypically masculine things and looks...I also like stereotypically female things.
I feel like i'm niether and both and sometimes it just depends on the day. I still identify as straight cis gender. maybe that will change? maybe that will stay and i'm just going through a weird headspace. Honestly I don't even have the vocabulary to talk about this topic so if for nothing else, thank you for educating me a bit. I kinda only thought there was trans, cis, or like androgynous? Now i guess I need to learn the more specific definition of androgynous. But also really like how the one girl said gender is bullshit and it's hard to label bullshit. Maybe that's me? just tired of bullshit labels that make me think i shouldn't feel certain ways or shouldn't do certain things just because of some chromosomes.

Please don’t flood this comment section trying to judge or mistreatment these people. Identify and be who you’re comfortable with. People like, feel, grow and navigate the world differently. Like why are you guys so pressed. No one is the same, similar, but never the same.

Love this video! It's always great to have a conversation and push people to see past our own perspective.

Sophia has it figured out. She knows who she is so it doesn't matter how other people "gender" her. Everyone could learn from her. Getting caught up with how others see you is a dark hole.

I think it’s interesting what people consider “biological sex”. Because chromosomes only mean so much, like for individuals who are XY but have androgen insensitivity syndrome. They are “biologically” male but have all of the phenotypic characteristics and neural organization of a “biologically female” individual. Additionally, during development masculinity and femininity are on a spectrum, and the organization of the brain reflects that. So even in science there isn’t really a set rule for what is male and female. The “biological sex” of an individual is a combination of chromosomes, prenatal hormones, how the brain develops (through genetics), and other environmental factors.
