R and S forms refers to the chirality of the molecule. R= rectus (right handed), S = sinsiter (left handed). R and S are both synthetic when mass produced for supplements. S is a biproduct of the production. Racemic mixtures (50/50, R/S) are then processed to separate the 2 enantiomers. R is the biologically acitve and natrually produced form.
