Migrate 2012 to 2019 Domain Contoller

How to Migrate (replace) your Windows Server 2012 domain controller(s) with Windows Server 2019. Then move the FSMO roles and upgrade the forest and domain functional levels to Windows Server 2016 (Note: there is no Windows Server 2019 forest or domain functional level).

Thank You for this video; it made it much easier to go 2012R2 to 2019. One thing I add there might be "password incorrect" on the new DC until the old server is demoted.

Good morning. I would like some advice. I have three servers: DC1, SQL1, and RDS1. I will be migrating all to 2019. I have followed your video and have successfully migrated from DC1 (2012 R2) to 2019, thank you very much for your time in making this video. Now, I am about to do SQL1, and I have SQL Server 14 (v17.0 - 2018) on the server. Do you think I can install Server 2019 straightforwardly without needing to upgrade SQL?

what happens if you shut the old domain controller down without first removing the AD roles? What happens if you shut the old server down without raising functional levels on the new DC?

PeteNetLive - Can I ask why the option to raise FFL\DFL to Windows Server 2019 was not an option? It appears that it only allowed you to raise to Windows Server 2016, yet you only had 2019-DC as only DC.
