Hi Marc, I hope you are well. Very good video and informationon your page is clear. I have Windows 2012 R2 DC with RDweb and webportal. Will the inplace upgrade work. Currently i have cloned the existing server and have disabled the network this is so that there is no conflict with the live server. Please let me know your thoughts?

Thank you for the video confirmation. One thing I's like to know is that if you already have other DCs in your domain at a higher OS level, then do you still need to run the adprep commands?

Thank you @marcmylemans for this clear video. But I receive an error Adprep failed to verify whether schema master has completed a replication cycle after last reboot. The schema is not upgrade. Could I continue to upgrade my server? Thanks

We have a primary and secondary DC both win 2012r2 and are planing to do in-place upgrades to 2019.
So if we are starting with the secondary DC, we just need to run this Forestprep only one time right ? Then when we do the in-place upgrade for primary we don’t need to do this step again ?

I got 1 question. If I have 2 domain controllers, that I want to upgrade from server 2012 to 2016, should I upgrade secondary first? Or primary?

I have one DC in my environment which I want to upgrade from 2K12R2 to 2K19. The DC is a DHCP/DNS/File server. Should I first spin up a VM with 2K19 on it, promote it to a DC and migrate the FSMO roles from the primary DC to it, and once the upgrade is completed, migrate the FSMO roles back to the upgraded DC? Or, will the upgrade complete successfully without having to migrate the FSMO roles? Thanks in advance.

Hello. I have 1 question. I have a 2012 server with a DC that needs to be upgraded to server 2019. Do I need to transfer the Domain controller to another server before upgrading to 2019?

Hi, Haven't AD and DHCP degraded after the upgrade?
