I find a good tip to deal with over saturation is once you think you're done editing, drag the saturation slider all the way down to zero and then slowly bring it back up to where you were before, sometimes you'll realize it's better to stop before that point a few notches

best advice you gave was really take a break from your edits before coming back to it.. I simply do that for every single edit I do, I NEVER send any photos to my client before a night of rest between my edits and the next one. there is ALWAYS something wrong with the first edit, and it's so easy to spot on the second run cos it's obvious but you're either tired or tunnel focus that you miss the obvious..
what I like to do to shorten that up is once I'm done, I just go back to the first photo and usually I can already spot the mistakes because I gradually improved the edit throughout all the pictures.. and by the time I got to the last one I usually have a good grip of the edit I wanted for that batch.. so going back to the first one I see the mistake, either it's too saturated or whatever, it will show..
so yeah, never rush to post something or send to the client, never ever.

I had the fuzzy viewfinder problem, tried everything, including the dioptre, turned out I had a cataract in my right eye!

Good video! I took up photography a few years ago and primarily shoot bike racing. It can move really fast and I often find myself rushing and forgetting to change settings between different scenes, or taking panning shots and forgetting to switch my lens to the panning mode. Or if I’m lucky I’ll remember to switch it for the panning shots, but then forgot to switch it back off when going back to standard mode. For me, I have to learn to slow down and check settings before being quick to push that shutter button. I like your tip about using the notes app - simple but effective. . I paused the video at that point and immediately jotted down a few reminders to help minimize my most frequent mistakes. Thanks for another good video.

I have made plenty of dumb mistakes.
I once had to turn on custom white balance for an interior with terribly yellow light.
Then I went to the beach and ruined 30+ shots before I noticed everything was blue.
And I once overexposed in edit because the laptop screen was very dark.
The last time I used it, the laptop battery was low so I turned down the brightness to save energy. And forgot to turn it up later.

Thanks for sharing. I have been shooting for more than 40 years. Every time I shoot I learn something new or make a mistake. Lately I started a Google workbook with each sheet dedicated to checklists for equipments and settings for each photo, video, film photo, or drone assignment.

Speaking of mistakes, sorry about the sound! I fixed it with a plug-in but something went wrong when I uploaded the video.
I’ll be sure to triple check next time 🙃

As a photobooth owner with lots of moving parts, I've learned the hard way, 1 very funny, yet essential thing needed to be added to ALL my lists... at the end of compiling the master list I always add "Dont forget the list" you can just imagine taking every piece of camera gear out in public along with a generator and full on "Computer office" out to a 3 day outdoor festival and realize that you left your master list at home and suddenly your not sure if you brought that G-master 24-70 F2.8, or is it sitting on your coffee table? (maybe, maybe not?)

Wearing polarized sunglasses. It makes it challenging to view/monitor my shots.

One of my many; walking up to a shot, pressing the shutter, starting to walk away and the 2 sec timer was on from a previous snap. Desperately, I try to get the camera back into position but... just pitiful.

It took over 25 years for me to do this but I showed up on a shoot with bags, need cameras in bags in order to qualify as camera bags. Had all equipment out the night before cleaning bodies, lenses, charging camera batteries, flash batteries, checking to make sure I had all rigging needed, checking modifiers, ring mounts, etc. put it all back in rolling cases but left bodies on the table to install 100% batteries in the morning before shoot. Oops. Put batteries in them, had helper show up at the door and forgot to add bodies into my backpacks. Everyone had a good laugh, even me although I am sure my complexion was bright red from the embarrassment!

I checked my diopter and nothing changed!
Chelsea remained just as glamorous what ever I did!
I expect I’ll offend some people, but you all know I’m not wrong!
Thanks for all the useful advice.

The two I make are: manual focus for outside night shots and forgetting later; wireless trigger mode for family group shots and not understanding why the shutter button isn't working.

For white birds you should use the Sony "HTP" instead: "High Tone Priority". It's an metering mode that makes sure your picture contains all high tones. Of course the image will look dark in the viewfinder or on the display as you review it but you can be sure you'll be able to restore the highlights in post. I use this metering mode all the times in case something very bright is in the picture.

How about brushing the SD card lock slider agains the card slot when putting it in? Locks the card, the shutter won’t fire.

Ah, mistakes! We've all made them and they're just the first step towards learning and improving. What common mistakes have you made and learned from?

Great video! I have made one, two, , maybe most of the mistakes you mentioned. Checking my settings before taking the photo was my major mistake. I now check frequently as I shoot - talking to/reminding myself to check is norm.

Setting your lens limiter switch to distance and wondering why your lens will not focus close. Duh! I have made all the ones you mentioned. I carry 3 batteries! LOL I enjoy your videos! Thanks
