This machine is based on a Ford 5000, which was then converted by an old English tractor company called county. If it’s a 4 cylinder the tractor was probably a county 794. They were then converted to these snowblowers in Quebec Canada.

Another great video. We lived in Montreal in the mid 70s, one of those machines actually chewed half of my mother's white 60s VW Beetle that was buried to past it's roof. The city workers had no ideal it was there under the massive snow pile. We heard a huge racket, went outside and the guys were scratching their heads, said sorry, and continued on with their work day like nothing happened. Awesome power in those things.

This machine would have been worth its weight in gold in the recent snow in area you helped out with, this is something you should keep for such an occasion.

Those Vohl snowblowers were all over Montreal during the 70’s and 80’s. Decent machines. Heavy D you have to come to Quebec in the winter to see some heavy snow machines at work!

The old snowblower is based on a County 754 (or possibly 764, depending on the year of built?).
County Tractors was a UK based company, that converted Ford tractors (in this case a Ford 5000 2wd) into a 4wd. In the days Ford didn't supply 4wd as an option yet.
Each front wheel has a seperate drive shaft taken from the rear axle. This results in a low centre of gravity and great grip, but also in a slightly bigger😊 turning circle.

Since the tractor is for quite some part based on a Ford 5000, those parts should be available well.
For the 4wd part: those are County parts, which can be bought at Mark Osborne (County tractors parts Ltd).

The engine in the back will power the snow plow. In the first versions, this was a 6 cylinder Ford engine (about 100 HP).

County tractors are highly collectable tractors in Europe especially in the UK.
I have a County 754 myself.

The Ford gearbox is a Select-o-Speed. Basically the predecessor of the powershift. Although it doesn't have a too well reputation in Europe, the 10 speed forward and 2 speed reverse gearbox is not that bad, as long as maintenace is done properly, which was less necessary with the Ford tractor manual gearbox. Might be the reason most European farmers prefered the manual gearbox.
For the snowplow, the SOS-gearbox is perfect!

Many Ford tractors in the US were supplied with a SOS-gearbox, altough most of them were lighter tractors.

To transport the snow blower with a Select-o-Speed gearbox, please put the selector in Neutral to prevent damages to the gearbox, which could be pretty expensive.

If you have any questions about the Ford or County part, just let me know.

Kind regards from The Netherlands

When you and your team saved several people during a huge snowfall, I commented to you that you would need this kind of machine. I'm so glad to see you've finally thought about it. It's awesome! If it does not cause you mechanical problems, you will save dozens of lives during the next storms because this machine literally eats up large piles of snow in seconds. Cheer ! I'm from Quebec, I see these machines very often in winter.

Our county has a couple of these machines. They are snow moving, snow blowing monsters that can move so slow. Amazing machine.

Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec... These machines are everywhere there, and are honestly feared. Really, really cool to watch them work and they make the craziest noise when they chomp down and shoot heavy snow crazy distances, but let's just say that at least now they have a security person walking in front of them when clearing the streets in residential zones. =(

Normally anything to do with snow removal is all rotted out in my area, that stuff is in auoer good shape for its age and being used strictly for snow removal . Ive always wanted one of those new holland versatile tractors where the seat spins and all the controls spin around and you can run it from either direction . They have a huge following and farmers love them you can have a loader on one end and snow blower on the other or any combination you want

My city in Newfoundland still has some Vohls in use. You glossed over those New Hollands, those are super cool. The full operating station rotates so you can face whatever direction you’re driving. Makes them great snowblower tractors.
